Day 3 and 4

Wow. Tired. And excited. The tour has been great. I've made some fabulous new friends and had a great time meeting and greeting. Day three was a long drive to Cottonwood California where we were fortunate to go to the Classic Books store. What an amazing group of women! They were having a "Girl's Night Out" event and it was genuinely a great time. There was a festive air to the store that kept us going long after we left. The store was beautiful and so very well put together and the staff...

Day Two

So after reading the comments on my previous post, I've come to realize people name their GPS. Well, we've named ours as well. Her name is Dora (as in Dora the explorer. The map! The Map!) Yes we do have smallish children. Dora has been awesome since we stopped her from speaking Swedish at us.

Dora has served us well these last couple of days and we tried to repay her by taking her out to dinner, but she declined. Dora is just humble like that about her service.

We started in Idaho at the...

Day One

A Fun Day

Josi is a most amiable companion and the  many hours of driving was filled with good conversation. We stopped first in Idaho Falls where we met up with Erin Klinger who treated us to breakfast and accompanied us to our signing at Deseret Book. It was great to see her and to meet the staff of the Idaho Falls DB. They were very gracious and we enjoyed our time there. Toward the end of that signing we received a semi-worried phone call from my publicist wondering why I wasn't at my...

Off We Go!!!!

The car is packed, the gas tank full! I hope my kids are off to school, but since I'm not home anymore, for all I know Mr. wright gave them a free day and they're all playing X-Box. We are officially on our way to our first stop, Idaho Falls. Just as a reminder, here are the two contests we'll be doing during the tour:

*In Person: For those people who are able to come to one of the bookstores, you'll have the chance to enter a drawing for a $40 gift card to either Olive Garden, Best Buy, or...

Well . . . He Did What I asked . . .

I was at World Fantasy in San Jose over the weekend and had an excellent time with old friends and new friends alike. I had great roommates: Stacy Whitman and Heidi Summers, and great hang out buddies: Rob Wells, Marion Jensen, Josh Perkey, Joshua Bilmes, Dan Wells, Eric Stone, Lee Modesitt and his lovely daughter Catherine Modesitt, and some guy named Nick–who was hilarious.

The weekend wasn't much of a furthering of my career as a writer, but it *was* great fun. Guy Gavriel Kay watched the Y...

world Fantasy and Book Tour updated Schedule

Tomorrow I am off to World Fantasy. I haven't written much since I've been letting my wrist have a break to see if that will stop some of the pain. All is well in my world–kids are healthy, husband is still cute, and my WIP marches forward. I wanted to share a quick update on our book tour schedule so you knew what the real times and locations were. We've had a few changes so if you were planning on one of the store locations, make sure to check again to be certain it is where and when you...

Blog Awards and MEME

Josi Kilpack chose me and four other bloggers for this blog award—which was very sweet since she said so many nice things about me and she's got it all backwards. SHE is the one who is always listening to me. I find it amazing that she is such a great friend and that I really can tell her everything. So the deal is since she tagged me, I get to answer all her questions and then tag some others.
Now, on to the questions.
1. Where is your cell phone?…. I don't know. It was in my purse the last t...

Book Tour Announcement and Launch Report

I know I'm a flake when it comes to blogging. Lots of changes are going on in my life and I'm just trying to hang on without getting swept under. And just because I need one more thing to be flaky about, I started a twitter account! I know. You're all rolling your eyes. Me too. I started it because I am going on a book tour with Josi Kilpack in November. We will be visiting books stores and doing firesides and presentations all over for those two weeks and I thought tweeting a road trip with ...

The top ten worst phrases I have heard as a mother

My kids have said some great things over the years. Things that make me laugh, things that make me cringe, and things that have actually made me cry. So here is my top ten list so far of the worst things my kids have uttered out loud and on purpose.

"Mommy! The kitchen's on fire!""I don't see why you're mad; It's not like it's a *real* book." (this said when I was preparing my first manuscript for the editor and had lost fifteen pages)"I'm going to my friend's house for dinner. Her mom makes GOOD
