A fraudulent one star review.

You are kidding right now? A hater no less than. One star review of my story of Alice, my dear beloved mother, who has angel wings now? Be careful the devil is sitting on your back. My mother was pure love of the almighty. You must be evil sent. You can't hurt us. Just know that.

As God as my witness....you will surely go down, to your father the devil. Have fun with that.

Queen Maya Angelou

I would like to celebrate black history month with a shout out to the great Maya Angelou. A woman, like a movement, all by herself. Her words inspired me. I wanted to kneel before her, a real queen!

Powerful, and silently humble, all wrapped in angel wings, sent to earth to grace us with her wisdom and beauty.

"Maya, any time I had to opportunity to listen to your voice, like the power of a raging river, sending out the message within the rapids, shaking my being. How amazing your time here on earth! I know you are on angel duties now.
I loved your book, 'I know why the Caged Bird Sings.' Hope to meet you in that library in heaven, to have the conversation. The Penny Vagina Murders.

What started out as The Necktie Party, changed to The Penny Vagina Murders. I announced the change to my family to which I received mix reviews. One of the women in my family was like, 'really Brenda, you are going to call you book that? She's like, I can't even say the name, while giggling all the while.
Although the book is fiction, it is based on true life and some larger than life characters that came from my real life. I have personally lived some of the lives in this book. How else could I have written it? The killer was in my company too. Now I have you intrigued. Did I know him? How did I meet him? He was a real person in Toronto Canada, killing crack head hookers. Was he ever arrested and jailed for his crimes? Better than that, I get to deal with him in the book the only way I saw fit. Hmmmm......deep in the mind of a writer can be a scary place. I love that I can be them all, and do them all as I like.

A time of reckoning.

Never in all my days, have I seen this kind of uncertainty and injustice. The world is in turmoil everywhere you turn. What can we do?

Keep your circle small and love hard, the ones that love you. Make the Lord your savior, and put your burdens on him. Keep him close, talk to him, let him know your innermost fears.

I was saddened to hear of the warrior, Colin Powell who passed just a few days ago. A neighbor of mine, passed away suddenly last night. A man of less than fifty years on this earth. It just makes you wonder doesn't it. Anytime I listened to Colin Powell speak I was taken by his humble loving demeanor. He was an admiral I believe in the U.S. army. The world has lost a beautiful soul, now heaven has a new angel.

Hold your loved ones close, and take a deep breath and realize your life is but whisper. Be thankful that you are well and can enjoy another day on this earth, with love in your heart and a strong body to house your soul. At the end of the day, the house has to remain a stronghold.

Is this a cliche?

I've been through hell, and high water.

I'm not looking for sympathy.

I wrote the story of Alice, which ultimately leads into my childhood to show you how, abuse is a cycle and one that I liken to....a runaway train. Mostly I want my mother's story to help to heal others that have lived this life. As they cry for Alice, their own pain will run out like a meandering river, with rapids. My mother Alice, loved the world and never lost her faith in the almighty, till her last breath. When you read the story you will get to know Alice. Kind until her least breath, never selfish, always humble, a queen forever more. Love you mom. x oxox

Sticks and stones.....

Can break my bones....but words can never hurt me. As you know, if you have read my debut story Alice Had a Palace, I endured all kinds of abuse. Now as a writer a few fraudulent readers who don't like my voice, would try to discredit my story, or maybe its my love of God, that upsets them? Aside from the few reviews that shook me, my readers are happy and enjoy my words. As I review the bad ones, it is apparent, those ratings are reflective of the reviewer. Definitely not invited to my camp. I had another author from Goodreads reach out to me, and said there was a hate campaign against me on face book and some derogatory remarks and distain for my work. It is really o.k. It hasn't made me lose an ounce of sleep and no bruises on my skin. The ones that are trying to defile my work, stand out like the enemy. Not everyone will love your voice.

Thank you for all the great reviews of my book Alice Had a Palace. She is the queen of my heart forever. Now in heaven, on angel duties.
