I thought my life was, well ... meh. Until I started fiction writing. Memories flooded back and I realised my existence had not been mundane at all; it had been bloody ridiculous!

And little wonder. I’m controlled by the butt-ugly, potty-mouthed goddess of obscenity. Nothing I say is my fault. NOTHING. She has always had the whip hand in my psyche and used to get me into a lot of shit when I was a kid. I rediscovered her while I was researching my university Honours thesis—fossicking around in ancient mythology, home to the archetypes of our modern-day reality.

I might have shut her out for a long time, but by God I love her! She, who embodies a holy kind of dirty, showed me the absurdity of the human condition, reminded me about the value

Is a Beta Better?
They say there’s a new man in town. I say his days are numbered!

A stereotype called the beta-male is roaming the streets. Unlike a former holder of the post, the alpha-hole, Mr Beta is not cruising to pick up a one-night stand. Mr Beta has likely got a leash in his fist with a yappy toy poodle attached to the other end of it, dragging him along.

Where the alpha-hole—he of the ch... Read more of this blog post »

Cupid F*cks Up by Paula Houseman
"Cupid F*cks Up is the second book in the Ruth Roth series, and picks up Ruth's story shortly after we left her in book 1.

It's the same old sarky Ruth with her doubts and fears, once again hilariously told, and this time we have a birth, a couple..." Read more of this review »

“It was an interesting night. I’d never been to a non-Jewish wedding, and Phelan assured me that this one was not the norm. The bride and groom got pissed as newts—he ended up passed out, sprawled face down in his own vomit, while she did the cancan on the bridal table, flashing something old, which apparently was nothing new.”

“Far too many people are looking for the right person, instead of trying to be the right person.”

“Sometimes the one who is running from the Life/Death/Life nature insists on thinking of love as a boon only. Yet love in its fullest form is a series of deaths and rebirths. We let go of one phase, one aspect of love, and enter another. Passion dies and is brought back. Pain is chased away and surfaces another time. To love means to embrace and at the same time to withstand many endings, and many many beginnings- all in the same relationship.”
