V P Smith is a native of a small town in Québec, currently adjusting to a not-so-small city life. She loves suspense movies, dabbling in painting masterpieces—in her own mind, at least—and escaping to New York City.

Usually she can be found chained to her desk with her laptop, the largest coffee mug known to man, and her new writing partner, her puppy Jasper. He's just as fantastic at reminding her when it's time to take a much needed break as his predecessor, Dexter. ~ RIP

It just keeps coming and then I realize that five hours have passed when it felt like minutes. Fingers crossed it continues that way. (less)
V.P. Smith The second book in what I anticipate to be a series. Though this time it began as novel, not a therapy exercise.

I read my reviews, and take each one into consideration. With that being said, I've written a blog post on my website regarding a disconcerting issue I see mentioned often - whether it's in a review, or someone mentioning it to me personally.

As a result, I had decided to drop everything else I was working on and wrote a prequel, hoping to clear up a few t... Read more of this blog post »

Allies in Healing by Laura Davis
“Abuse manipulates and twists a child’s natural sense of trust and love. Her innocent feelings are belittled or mocked and she learns to ignore her feelings. She can’t afford to feel the full range of feelings in her body while she’s being abused—pain, outrage, hate, vengeance, confusion, arousal. So she short-circuits them and goes numb. For many children, any expression of feelings, even a single tear, is cause for more severe abuse. Again, the only recourse is to shut down. Feelings go underground.”

The Edge of Madness by Patrick Reuman
"Normally, I only give 1 star reviews to books I don't finish, but this is maybe 1.5 stars? I didn't hate it enough to put it down, but it was rough enough that two stars still seemed a little high.

This book really suffered from its editing; it was..." Read more of this review »
