The Zee Brothers Prank Call Promo!
Want to have some fun and win some cool prizes?
We want you to prank call The Zee Brothers!
Who are The Zee Brothers?
Jonah & Judas are two brothers in the Zombie Extermination business. Just like any other exterminators, they get phone calls from prospective clients and go out and do inspections to determine what needs to be done.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the pests, this usually turns into a bloody mess in a hurry. Most often, where Jonah & Judas are concerned, it’s generally pretty funny as well.
While the brothers are serious about what they do, there is one night a year where they will not answer their phone. You see, Jonah & Judas get a lot of prank calls to their Zombie Exterminators phone #, but it’s the worst on Halloween night.
That’s the one night a year when people think it’s funniest to harass them. They don’t answer the phone and they don’t go out. All those costumes and people in zombie make-up are a recipe for disaster for guys ready to shoot anything that’s dead but still moving, so they just stay home and let the phone ring.
The messages range from people making fun of zombie extermination, people pretending they are being attacked, to people saying zombies aren’t real. The list goes on and on. The next morning they nurse their hangovers and listen to the Halloween madness.
That’s where you come in!
We want you to call and leave your craziest, zaniest message about zombies or zombie exterminators to Jonah & Judas. Pretend you’re a potential client or just be a funny prankster.
What’s in it for you?
Your call could be featured in The Zee Brothers Vol.3 both as text in the book and possibly even the audio from your call in the audiobook. We’ll also broadcast some of our favorites across our social media, bringing you untold fame… no fortune, but we promise as much fame as your humor creates.
PRIZES!
The top 3 prank callers will all win signed copies of The Zee Brothers Books 1-3! And the contents of your call will likely be featured in book 3.
(Grand Prizes will be sent out after the release of book 3 mid-2018) Some random prizes will be given out all year long.
Other prizes may include posters, prints, bookmarks, apparel and more.
How do you participate?
Call the Grivante Press offices at 208-352-2102 and at the beep, pretend you are leaving a message for Jonah & Judas. You are more likely to win if you make us laugh, good luck!
Contest Rules:
Must be 18 Years Old at the time of the phone call.
After you’ve left your message, make sure and pause a moment and then give your call back number, name and an email address so that we can get in touch with you if you win.
Winners will be chosen by 1/31/18.
CONTEST ENTRY PERIOD ENDS 1/1/18

MASHED Monday Author Interview : Nicholas Paschall
[image error]
Nicholas Pascall writes the story “The Old Man in the Suit” in our upcoming anthology, Mashed: The Culinary Delights of Twisted Erotic Horror. “The Old Man in the Suit” is a story of lust, voodoo and unfulfilled desires. Oh and some cookies.
About you:
I’m a writer by trade, but I’ve had other jobs throughout my life that have helped to shape my writing. From Manager at a pool company to an Insurance Adjuster, I’ve been through the ropes a few times.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself?
I enjoy horror video games and movies, and writing (of course). I usually read a few hundred books a year, my library is getting a little full. I practice and observe voodoo rites in my day-to-day life which makes things fun!
When not writing, what do you enjoy doing?
I play video games and occupy my time with reading some of the work I’ve had downloaded to my Kindle. I observe the stars and cook, while also using incense and meditation to realize nightmares yet untold.
What attracted you to submitting your story to MASHED: The Culinary Delights of Twisted Erotic Horror?
I’ve had this story in my folder for years, and I was surprised when someone came around with an anthology that would accept my work. It took a bit of editing, but the story has been polished to a shine.
For your MASHED story, “The Old Man in the Suit” what was your inspiration?
“The Old Man in the Suit” was a challenge from my wife to write an erotic horror story. At the time, to make ends meet, I was a baker at a local restaurant. As a passing practitioner in voodoo, I enjoyed mixing and messing with recipes to see what the staff would like, and often made drastic changes that brought about painfully exquisite flavors. The downside being, for any who ate, that they had consumed nearly triple the calories, saturated fats, and trans fats. That tradeoff made me think of some of the other things I would have loved to try had I fewer morals. So I wrote up the Old Man in the Suit, the old man being a description of an old co-worker of mine.”
Influences:
When did you first discover that you wanted to be a writer?
When I was around five.
Did you have any writing mentors?
Mark Twain
Who are your favorite authors?
David Wellington for sure. I really enjoy his vampire series.
What films or books have most influenced you as an author?
Carrie, Rose Red, and It were always great influences.
Outside of Horror, what other genres do you write in?
Dark Fantasy
Is there anything else that has influenced you as a writer?
My grandfather’s old military stories, and stories of my other grandfather and his drug-addled adventures. I practice Voodoo as a Buddhist and some of my best stories have come from ritual-induced meditations.
What is the first book that made you cry?
Haven’t had that happen yet.
On Writing:
How do you describe your writing style?
Measured. I write 2500 words a day, no matter what.
What advice would you give to new writers just getting started?
Set a pace for yourself and begin working on it so you can get the flow of writing done.
What part of writing do you find the most difficult?
Ending a story, it always seems difficult to stop telling a story.
What story are you most proud of?
Ghost of O’Leary House is one I’m quite proud of.
What do you hope your readers take away from your stories?
So long as they’re entertained, I’m happy. I write to bring fear back to the average reader.
What is your next big writing project fans should be on the lookout for?
I have a novel called the Father of Flesh being published by Darkwater Syndicate this summer.
Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know?
I really enjoy horror films, and watch them almost exclusively.
Where else on the internet can you be found?

The Old Man in the Suit
The streets of New Orleans were awash with the lights and sounds of Mardi Gras, the torrid display of primal urges at every corner as men and women drank, ate and danced the night away. Endless parades of masked figures were dressed in bright and eccentric clothing, designed to tantalize the senses. The smell of sweat and lust hung heavy in the humid night air of the raucous city, as bars pulsed with the sound of music, entrancing drunken revelers in as quickly as they bled out onto the wild party of the street.
Behind a squat lesbian bar known simply as Red, two such individuals were taking advantage of the darkness of the cramped alleyway. Long alabaster legs with smooth cream-colored flesh were intertwined with mocha-colored hands and moist ruby lips, both women doing their best to chase away the demons of everyday life through heavy doses of tequila and the risqué act of making love so openly.
“Mmm… harder!” The blonde-haired woman groaned, her ivory corset partially undone, the laced sides haphazardly unstrung enough for the garment to be pushed down over her ample breasts. Beads of sweat, interrupted only by trails of saliva, slid down her neck and into her cleavage as she gripped the kinky black hair of her lover, forcing her deeper between her legs.
Her lover merely smirked as she drove her fingers in faster. Jennifer loved picking up tourists during Mardi Gras; they were always so willing, so supple… so delicious. Allowing her head to be forced into the apex of the lewd woman’s legs, set to the task of bringing about a toe-curling orgasm.
The woman lashed back her head, letting loose a throaty moan as she massaged Jennifer’s scalp. Mewling in pleasure from the darting lashes of the ebony girl’s pink tongue, savoring the rough texture with every pass from the slow strokes of the finger entering her. Sitting atop a garbage can, legs splayed open with her panties pulled to the side, the drunken blonde could scarcely believe she was allowing this to happen.
She could also scarcely think, thanks to the electrical jolts of pleasure firing through her body, the waves of passion that would ebb and flow over her drunken thoughts. She leaned back, one hand sliding up to grasp her left breast, the pressure of her impending orgasm mounting.
Licking up from the blonde’s opening, Jennifer slid another finger in to join the first as she moved to suckle on her partner’s right breast. Pulling on the nipple with her teeth and rolling it in her mouth, Jennifer lavished attention onto the woman as she picked up speed with her hand.
Jennifer let go of the nipple, a light popping noise leaving her lips as she leaned forward, resting her chin in the crook of the woman’s shoulder.
“Are you going to cum for me, hmm?” She whispered sweetly, her tongue seeking out her victims’ earlobe.
The blonde nodded shakily, not trusting herself to speak beyond the grunts and moans that were tumbling forth from her mouth. A throaty purr slipped past her lips, before she turned to Jennifer, desperately trying to catch her lips in a needed kiss.
Jennifer’s hand stopped, her two fingers knuckle deep in the drunken girl. Her other hand snaked up the blonde’s body, grabbing onto her chin and forcing her head to the side.
“Nuh-uh… no kissing for you.” Jennifer chided before settling her mouth over the thrumming pulse of the blonde, sucking on the skin in a teasing manner. The woman moaned in both protest and pleasure, rocking her hips to try and get Jennifer to continue the torrid finger play on her flower.
Jennifer happily obliged.
Minutes passed by, the only sounds in the air the distant cry of trumpets from the bands and the agonized moans of the woman as Jennifer wrenched the last vestiges of pleasure from her body. Every time she approached orgasm, Jennifer would slow her hand, torturing her in an endless loop.
“Please… I need it!” The blonde moaned after what felt like hours, as her third approach to orgasm was halted by Jennifer’s teasing ministrations.
Jennifer lifted her head from the blonde’s throat, breathing into her ear. “Need what darling?”
“I need… to cum!” The woman gasped, shuddering as Jennifer curled her fingers within her. “Please just let me cum!”
“Yeah,” Drawled a voice from the darkness, causing both women to jump, “Let her cum girl, then she can do you next.”
The blonde began hastily rearranging her outfit, sliding back far enough on the garbage can lid for Jennifer’s fingers to slip out of her. Jennifer turned, glaring around as she did, her eyes wide and angry.
“Who the fuck is there?” She hissed, trying to locate the speaker, only to curse at the shadows of the alleyway.
Emerging partially from the darkness, a lean elderly man smiled at Jennifer. “No need to stop, it was just getting good!”

MASHED Monday Author Interview : Darla Dimmelle
[image error]Darla writes the story “Sugar” in our upcoming anthology, Mashed: The Culinary Delights of Twisted Erotic Horror.
“Sugar” is the story of two teens getting ready to go to college that must deal with a teacher after he hits on the female teen on a ‘Sugar Daddy’ dating site. See a free preview of the story at the end of the interview.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a 21 year old student at Utah Valley University. I’m a creative writing major, with minors in cinema studies and Russian. I work two jobs, as a transcriptionist for an online company and as a writing tutor at my school. I’m naturally nosy, so this suits me well.
When not writing, what do you enjoy doing?
I watch a lot of movies, and I’ve recently gotten into professional wrestling. I like going out to eat, napping with my dog, and knitting.
What attracted you to submitting your story to MASHED: The Culinary Delights of Twisted Erotic Horror?
Honestly, you had me at “Culinary Delights of Twisted Erotic Horror.”
Influences:
When did you first discover that you wanted to be a writer?
In sixth grade. It was early enough that now basically all my marketable skills are in creative writing, so here we are.
Did you have any writing mentors?
Not officially, but I owe a lot to my professors; specifically Karin Anderson and Julie Nichols.
Who are your favorite authors? What are your favorite books?
Stephen King got me interested in reading horror and sustained me as a young girl. I grew up and got more into romantic dramas (my favorites being Maurice by EM Forster and Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters). Now I would say that my favorite book of all time would be Hogg by Samuel Delany.
What films or books have most influenced you as an author?
Brian de Palma’s Carrie was life-changing for me, being what introduced me to horror. I was obsessed with it. I was an anxious child, so I spent countless nights awake and terrified after seeing it for the first time. To cope, I started to watch the movie obsessively, going as far as to write down the script of the film, line for line.
Similarly, getting into erotica at a young age definitely helped me develop stylistically. I thank Sarah Waters and her works, specifically Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith, for this.
Now, I find a lot of comfort in New French Extremity films. Not because of their content necessarily, but in the fact that they have an audience. It helps assure me that there is an audience for the type of work I would like to create.
Outside of Horror, what other genre’s do you write in?
I enjoy writing comedy, romance, and erotica – but none of these are as fun for me without some sort of horror element.
Is there anything else that has influenced you as a writer?
Song of Songs. Online pornography. The It Follows soundtrack.
What is the first book that made you cry?
Where the Red Fern Grows in fifth grade! I never read a dog book again after that! Thanks a lot, Mrs. Cavanaugh!
On Writing:
How do you describe your writing style?
I enjoy writing very conversational, fun prose. While I want to use beautiful language, I strive to keep the flow of narration natural so my readers can be immersed. To accomplish this, I focus on overall structure and rhythm, allowing my readers to fill in imagistic gaps.
What advice would you give to new writers just getting started?
Write as much as you can. Read a lot. Steal ideas. Write shit, and make other people read it. Viciously defend yourself against anything they say, and then internalize everything that night in bed and improve yourself. Teach yourself humility. Teach yourself arrogance. Never forget, everything is duality, and you are a humble, arrogant creation.
What part of writing do you find the most difficult?
Getting ideas out of my head and onto paper.
What story are you most proud of?
I once wrote a story about a person who lived in the woods and came across a young man who had died in a car crash. I made it into a filmed puppet show and showed it to a class. Lots of people were very uncomfortable with how romantic they found necrophilia for those couple minutes.
What do you hope your readers take away from your stories?
When it comes down to it, I want my readers to have a good time! If I can provide an outlet or flesh out a fantasy, I’ll be more than happy.
What is your next big writing project fans should be on the lookout for?
I’ll be giving a paper at 2017’s Pop Culture Conference in San Diego on queer fandom in professional wrestling. I have a few other stories I’m trying to get published, and a few novels I’m trying to get finished.
Write a 6-word story, GO!
He masturbates and cries, releases mixing.
Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know?
Always, always, always; thank you!

Sugar
“Can you come over right now?” Honey asked. She sounded better than she had earlier, when she’d spaced out in Kiddo’s room and rambled, sweating and shaking like the devil had gotten into her. She sounded calm, miles away from the frantic I was so scared, he just kept touching me and I didn’t even try to stop him. It made the knot between Kiddo’s shoulders loosen a bit.
“Sure, Honey,” he said, already looking for his boots. “Gimme twenty minutes.”
“I’m at Burner’s house.”
Kiddo blinked. “Burner left for Colorado State.”
“Yeah, and my mom said his parents are on a Christmas cruise, so,” she said.
Kiddo’s heart thudded. He cleared his throat, and said, “You broke in.” This was not the behavior he expected from square Honey, whose most devious act ever, had been legally signing up for a sugar dating website and not even enjoying it. She wouldn’t shoplift from Hot Topic or even smoke pot.
She huffed, like Kiddo was the one being difficult. “Yes. Get over here and help me,” she snapped and hung up.
Oh fuck, Kiddo thought, toeing on his snow boots and fumbling for his car keys. Shit, fuck shit, shit fuck.
Burner’s parents lived in a nicer neighborhood than his or Honey’s, which was why Burner had left town for college and Kiddo and Honey went to Community. Anyone who’d spent an afternoon after school with Burner knew which potted plant they hid their keys under. They would also know that they kenneled their finicky Pomeranian during vacations and that their security code was 00002. Most importantly, and perhaps unfortunately at this moment, Kiddo thought, everyone knew Mrs. Burner, an abstract expressionist, worked in a big, empty, concrete studio where she liked to splatter paint and then hose the remnants down the drain. Burner had done a presentation on it Freshman year, telling the whole English class about his hero, with pictures and everything.
But Kiddo was sure Honey was just fucking with him. She probably just wanted to steal booze, to kick back and watch some TLC on cable. Honey sometimes pulled the Burner’s mail when they were out for $5 a day, so it wasn’t that weird for her to be there. She probably thought this was real fucking funny. And, honestly, he probably would too once he was sure Honey hadn’t done anything too dumb.
He parked a block away, stuffed his cold fingers in his jacket pockets, and stepped over the snowy curb. Cold air freezing down his throat and lungs, he jogged to the big, boxy, environmentally conscious house, sneaking around to the back to get to the studio.
Honey was waiting for him, chewing on her thumbnail in the doorway, brow crinkled in concentration. Her blonde hair had been braided and pinned close to her head, and the makeup she’d mostly cried and rubbed off was still smudging around her eyes and mouth. She smiled when she saw him, though; her pink-banded braces close to glowing in the dim light of the open studio door. She exhaled. Her breath steamed.
“What the fuck?” he hissed. He looked over her shoulder, where Mr. Redacted was sitting, gagged and tied to a chair, struggling. His scuffed-up leather shoes were just brushing the floor drain. Kiddo looked at Honey again, more violently this time, and repeated, “Literally what the fuck, Honey? Oh my fucking God, what the fuck did you do?” Still, he followed her in toward warmth and let her shut and lock the cold out.
Mr. Redacted was sitting uncomfortably, looking on the sadder side of forty and gaunt, although he had a good head of hair. He was wearing old dude date clothes– khakis and a button down—and Kiddo remembered him wearing almost the exact same outfit to Woodshop. His skinny shins and ankles were secured firmly to the legs of the chair, his knobbled wrists behind the back, one final black, plush rope tight around his middle. He had a ring gag in, and the tip of his fat pink tongue lolled out of his mouth, spit drooling down his chin. Besides that, though, he looked fine. He pleaded with Kiddo the second he entered his line of vision, which made no one more comfortable.
“You said you’d help me.” Honey only looked a little put out by his lack of enthusiasm.
“I thought you were kidding! We were just joking around to make you feel better after a shitty date. Like, oh, let’s torture porn rape revenge this creep! Sure, that sounds fun! I didn’t think you were serious! You can’t just—where did you get all this stuff on such short notice?” he asked, distracted, circling the teacher, taking in how high quality all of Honey’s tools were. At least the guy wouldn’t be getting any rope burn.
“He brought it,” Honey said. “I told him I’d let him tie me up for sex if he showed me how to do it to him first.” She shrugged. “He thought it was a good idea. Even took a taxi so his wife wouldn’t notice the car was missing.”
Kiddo only realized he was staring at her when Honey finally met his eyes to offer him a small, hopeful smile. “So, you,” he took a second to process. He swallowed. “You invited him here?”

February Audio Book Review : Dead – The Ugly Beginning by TW Brown
Run time 11 hrs and 22 mins
In TW Brown’s The Dead – The Ugly Beginning, we are shown the world at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse and introduced to one of the main characters, Steve. Steve finds that what’s happening on his TV is also happening right outside his front door. The book starts out fast, with some humor mixed in as he is forced to venture out into the world to try and survive.
There are some fun references to Zombie Pop Culture icon, George Romero, establishing the author’s love for classic zombies. On a quick side note, fans of Romero in the Pacific Northwest, he will be the guest of honor at this year’s Crypticon Convention in Seattle May 5th – 7th 2017. As will the actors that played Barbara and Johnny in the original Night of the Living Dead. Come out and meet them!
Now back to our review, it doesn’t take long before Steve finds another survivor, a young girl named Theresa, who ends up being a pretty badass character in the story.
While the tale starts out with some humor, about halfway through, as the world and its rules fade into chaos, the story reveals the darker side of humanity. This brings with it some pretty gruesome and potentially disturbing scenes for the listener. Be warned there are quite a few variations on the same theme dealing with violence against women.
Other characters are introduced, including multiple non-connecting storylines through the use of Vignettes. More on this in a bit.
As the story progresses, our main characters meet other survivors and we come to learn that the dead are beginning to form massive hordes that are over-running any human compounds they come across, leaving nowhere safe.
The story ends in such a way as to leave us very uncertain about the future.
What did I like about this story?
The story was well written and showed the decline of civilization in a way you can feel. From people still trying to obey society’s rules during the decline, to the absolute collapse of societal niceties and the lack of trust it creates amongst groups of survivors.
The narration was also well done, with Andrew McFerrin capturing the different voices of the characters nicely, keeping it engaging and the characters unique.
I enjoyed the overall storyline, especially some of the nods to Romero and some of the unique twists such as the zombie’s cry, but I’ll leave that for you to learn more about, it’s pretty evil.
Most of the characters had unique personalities and conflicts which created good stories as well as some real human demons to deal with.
What didn’t I like about this story?
There were a few things I struggled with in this book. First, it is part of a series and as can be the case, there was no resolution to most of the storylines. The story is our introduction to a much larger adventure and we are left with cliffhangers everywhere. Personally, I like books that have at least some sort of resolution to storylines. Setting them up for the future is fine, but leaving us hanging on most counts either means we have to be in for the long haul or left unfulfilled.
There are a series of vignettes in the book where characters are introduced and we are given glimpses into their lives. Some continue through in other vignettes later in the book and some simply end in the character’s death. Each time a new vignette started, I didn’t know if I should care or not. Would this be another character that just died? Or is this someone who is important to the overall story? I didn’t know and for that reason, I found myself groaning whenever another vignette section started.
As mentioned above, one of the other challenges was the number of storylines, that at least in this first book, appeared to have no connection with one another. I was left to assume that at some point in the series they will all connect, but in this book, they were all left unresolved.
There was also a point where I either missed something or the main storyline jumped when they were going to a FEMA center and then the next time we are hearing from those characters they had left the center and made references only to what happened there, leaving me feeling confused and wondering if I had spaced out and missed something important. I didn’t go back and re-listen, so it’s entirely possibly I did.
There is a technical issue at the end of Chapter 7 where there is over a minute long pause in the audio.
Conclusion: (Aka: Would I listen to more by this author?)
I’ve met TW personally and it was great to finally get some time to sit down and listen to one of his books. Despite some of the things I had challenges with, it was well written and there are a number of storylines that I want to know how they turn out, so yes, I would and likely will listen to the next book in the series, Dead – Revelations.
I’ve also heard that the sequel and the later books in the series get more coherent in terms of the storyline and that means that the good stuff will be getting even better. I look forward to it.
I give this 6 out of 10 stars.

In Warren Fielding’s, Great Bitten : Outbreak we follow the author as the main character in a World War Z(the book, not the movie) type recollection of the outbreak of a zombie virus in the UK as the reporter turned survivor escapes London and makes his way to safety.
The safety doesn’t last long as Warren, his sister Carla and her boyfriend Rick come to grips with the new zombie reality as society collapses all around them. They leave Carla’s home and go in search of a safe haven. Eventually ending up with a batch of not so trustworthy individuals that they must take shelter with in order to survive.
What I liked about this story?
I haven’t read many zombie stories that take place in the UK, so it was interesting to hear something that depicted things from that side of the planet.
I enjoyed the characters interactions, for me, it reminded me a lot of the characters in Douglas Adam’s, Hitchhiker’s Guide Series, this could simply be regular old british humor, but it amused me to listen to their absurd observational banter about what was going on around them. That alone made most of the story pretty enjoyable for me.
I also like the references to mainstream zombie pop culture and the mix of fast and slow zombies, this added a fun level of fright, as you never knew what the survivors were going to run into whenever they saw some of the dead.
What I didn’t like about this story?
There was one area that I struggled with in the story and that was the human bad guys. There was a small conflict at their introduction and I’ll admit that since I was listening to the audiobook versus reading the book, I may have zoned out and missed something important. However, for me I just didn’t pick up on why there was such a heavy level of conflict between the characters. I get the overall premise of it, just for me there was something that was missing and the high level of angst between our survivors and the leader of the survivors they joined, just never quite felt right to me.
Conclusion:
All in all, despite the part where I didn’t quite understand what was going on between the main good guys and bad guys, I did enjoy the story and found myself rooting for them. Especially at the end when everything goes from bad to worse and you find yourself really starting to hate some of the characters and worrying about the others.
There’s enough good stuff here to give it a listen and then wait patiently for the sequel!
I give this 7 out of 10 stars.
