Born in Leeds, currently living in Huddersfield, Paula Acton decided when she turned forty to stop dreaming about writing and do it. Having been published in online journals and featured in the charity anthology Lupus Animus, her first two publications are short story collections the second of which Voices Across The Void will be out in Autumn 2015 with her début novel to follow later in the year.

When not writing she can frequently be found wandering around randomly with her camera or with her headphones in listening to True Crime Podcasts.

Sometimes I need to physically get up and get away from the desk, I frequently find taking the dogs out for a walk and distracting myself allows me to come back refreshed to a problem but sometimes it can be as simple as open a new blank document and write nonsense, jot down ideas for other things or even do an exercise from one of the many writing manuals on my desk. You have to find ways that work for you and don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day or two and can't write, just don't stop trying and eventually your muse will return and you never know there may be a snippet or two in the other stuff worth using later.(less)

If you’re into mystery, suspension, with a touch of scary then ‘Voices Across The Void,’ is the book for you. This book will give you all of that, and some surprise emotions as well.
