Writer's block is something writers conjure up because they don't feel like writing or don't think they have any good ideas. If you don't feel like writing, don't write. If you don't have any good ideas, find some. Go for a walk. Read a book. Watch a movie. There's plenty of inspiration to be had.

If you're insecure about yourself as a writer, that's not writer's block, it's insecurity. You're looking at the result (or a result you fear) rather than enjoying the process. A lot of people say writing is hard, and it can be. But if you don't think it's fun, why bother? If you feel challenged, that's a good sign. No one ever became any good at anything without accepting a challenge.

Challenges lead to adventure, and there's no better inspiration for a writer than a sizzling adventure. Stop worrying so much about whether people will respond well to your writing. The important thing is this: It responds to you. So buckle your seat belt, step on that mental accelerator and enjoy the ride. Writer's block be damned.(less)

AI threatens authors by flooding the market with cheap imitations

“Why are you so worried about artificial intelligence? If your work is good, people will still buy it!”

That’s the basic argument I hear from people who think I’m reacting too strongly to generative AI (artificial intelligence that generates content). I should stop sweating it, they say. “Why not let others take advantage of it if they want to? It’s no skin off your nose. Besides, it’s fun!”

Well, I

If you read it, it will hook you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of tales that provide just the right mix of horror with suspense, interspersed with elements of science fiction and even whimsy. These stories have the feel of having been written

“According to some, the club’s “theft” of the 1925 title from Pottsville activated a curse against the Cardinals franchise, which managed to win just one more title, in 1947. As of this writing, it has since gone 67 years without a championship, the longest streak in the NFL”
