Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Jessica A. Scott has been an insatiable reader and an avid writer since before she started school, when her notebook was bigger than she was. With a pen in her hand and a dream in her heart, her writing skills grew as she did, leading to her winning several school, local, and statewide writing contents.

Since graduating from the University of Louisville in 2011 with degrees in English and Humanities, Jessica has devoted her life to writing novels, venturing into the jungles of both traditional and self-publishing armed only with her trusty pen and her unbridled imagination.

While she continues to add to her collection of published works, she spends her free time indulging in her other passions: food, Italy, and a

That being said, though, right now I think my favorite fictional couple in a book is Hazel and Augustus from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars. They seem so real, and there is something about the fact that they were both able to let themselves fall in love even though they knew going into it that their future together would be short-lived (if not entirely non-existent) that really speaks to me. The "cure" for it, though, depends on what kind of writer's block it is. Is it the kind where you CAN write, but you feel like everything you write is stupid or a waste of paper? Or is it the kind where you just can't seem to get ideas or find out where your story wants to go? In both cases, the solution is to just keep writing. I usually try to work on something else, something that doesn't matter as much, just to keep my brain thinking creatively. Sometimes that helps me to find my way back to inspiration, but sometimes I just have to wait for the story to start to talk to me again, to tell me where it wants to go. In the end, the only cures for writer's block are patience and perseverance, even if every writer (me included) wishes that there was some sort of magic pill to take instead!(less)

The Fussy Librarian

In today’s post, I want to do something a bit different than usual. I want to address one of the main problems indie authors have with book marketing by telling you about my own experience, and answering the question: “Is a Fussy Librarian promotion worth it?”

As every indie author soon learns, being a successful writer is less about how good your book is and more about how good you are at pr...
