Acid Reflux or GERD: Four Steps to Fast Holistic Relief

My acid reflux began in my twenties. I abhorred the sour regurgitation and nausea!

Decades later, I know that when acid reflux occurs, my body is telling me I’ve got bitter emotions about control issues I cannot or will not digest.

I don’t reach for antacids anymore. I tap away my emotional distress via EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques, which is acupressure for the emotions.

MIND-BODY WISDOM APPLIED TO YOUR DIGESTIVE TRACT
Digestive tract issues, including Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or acid reflux, can be caused by eating foods that your body has difficulty digesting, such as dairy products.

Digestive tract ills can also be triggered by bitter emotions, such as feeling forced to swallow a disagreeable part of life, personally or professionally. Your body is telling you that painful emotions are interfering with its digestion.

FOUR STEPS TO CLEAR DIGESTIVE ISSUES

Use this EFT Shortcut or any emotional release modality that you prefer. If you know what emotions or situation irritated your digestive tract, modify the below clearing statements to apply to that dilemma.

NOTE: this info does NOT replace a doctor's care or prescribed medications.

STEP ONE: Think about when the digestive issues began. What was happening in your personal or professional life that you didn’t want to “digest” or accept? Write down all your emotions from then and now about this situation. Rate those emotions from 1 (not a big deal) to 10 (maximum distress).

STEP TWO: Using one or more fingertips, lightly tap under your nose and above the center of your upper lip. This is the EFT acu-point known as “UN” or under the nose. It’s also your Governing Vessel Meridian endpoint, an extremely powerful energy release location!

While gently tapping, simultaneously repeat the below clearing statements three times, modified for what you wrote down (if possible):

- Even though I have this digestive tract upset, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself.

- I let go of all mental blocks to knowing the exact emotional triggers and situations for this (condition).

- The bitter regurgitation symbolizes a need for me to release the acidic emotions from this tough time.

- I release these fears that this ailment (name the condition) and these awful memories won’t go away.

- I now let go of my fears that the bad times and hurtful memories about (painful situation) will never end.

- I let go of the emotions churning in my gut of betrayal, bitterness, anger, rage, fury, hatred, and disgust.

- Someday if not today, I will forgive myself and everyone involved in this situation, for MY well being.

- As I clear my energy meridians of these emotional blocks, my entire digestive tract heals. I am well!

- I choose to accept the past, release resistance, and allow my entire digestive tract to heal. So be it!

STEP THREE: Take a deep breath or two then relax. Did any uncomfortable memories or distressing situations come to mind as you tapped?

Tap away the emotions connected to that specific memory. When you can think about it and have no emotional charge, you should be 100% clear of the emotions that triggered this condition.

STEP FOUR: Wait a few days and notice if your digestion ills improve. If not, you may have several more aspects or fear layers. Start again at step one, determine what’s left to clear, and tap it away.

DRY SKIN: Emotional Causes and Fast Holistic Relief

Did you know that dry skin can be triggered by unexpressed non-beneficial emotions?

When a patch of dry skin appeared on the right side of my back, negative work-related emotions were the culprits.

I harbored fears that a pesky business project would never “get off my back”. I wished the whole situation would dry up and go away. I applied EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques, which is acupressure for the emotions, and released all the fears about the situation. The dry skin flaked away for good. The rough, dry patch healed itself in about two weeks.

MIND-BODY WISDOM APPLIED TO DRY, FLAKY SKIN
Do you have persistent dry skin somewhere? Your body is telling you about repressed emotions via the location and condition.

For example, dry skin on the elbows or knees is commonly attributed to aging. Applying mind-body-emotions wisdom, we see a different reason: elbows and knees give us flexibility in doing our work, reaching out to others and walking our Life Path.

Dry, flaky, ashy elbow or knee skin indicates you’re fearing a LACK of FLEXIBILITY in love (left side) or work and money (right side), and wishing the inflexible situation would dry up and flake off.

SIMPLE WAY TO CLEAR DRY SKIN EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS

Use this EFT Shortcut or something similar, modified for your situation. If you know what emotions or situation triggered your dry skin, modify the below clearing statements to apply to that predicament.

- I release these fears that got under my skin because I’m wishing an uncomfortable flaky life situation would dry up.
- I now let go of my fears that the love or income in my life is drying up.
- Clearing my energy system of these fears of not being safe that are causing this dry skin.
- Letting go of my fears that this situation will never end, or the flaky person will never go away.
- I’m releasing these fears causing my dry, flaky skin on my (location).
- I’m choosing healthy moist skin that glows with well being.
- I choose to feel safe and peaceful, and allow my skin to heal.

(3) Take a deep breath or two then relax. Did any uncomfortable memories or distressing situations come to mind as you tapped?

Tap away the emotions connected to that specific memory. When you can think about it and have no emotional charge, you should be 100% clear of your blocks that caused the dry, flaky skin.

(4) Wait a few days and see if your dry skin condition improves. If not, you may have several more aspects or fear layers to tap away.

NINE Mental Stimulation Ideas for Your Pets

Experts agree that meeting the basic needs of shelter, water and food is rarely enough to maintain an animal’s total well being in body, mind, and emotions.

Human animal parents can learn from the new practices of many zoos and wildlife parks: give the animals daily tasks that keep them busy, relieve boredom, exercise their bodies and stimulate their minds.

Check out the below list and find some stimulation that both you and your animal might enjoy.

1) LEARN ANIMAL COMMUNICATION: one of the most wonderful gifts to give yourself and your animal is to learn inter-species communication. Anyone can do it, and plenty of information is available to learn how. You can also contact a professional animal communicator for one-on-one or group training.

2) INTERACTIVE TOYS: introduce these increasingly popular boredom-blaster items into the animal’s environment, then move them around every few days. Horses and other pasture animals like to roll spools and chase balls just like home-bound animals do, and the activity is good exercise.

3) FOOD HUNT: animals naturally forage for food in the wild. Toys are available that can be filled with food and left for the animal to hunt down and open.

4) GUARD THE HOME: before you leave your house or apartment, tell your animal friend(s) that they’ve been assigned the job of keeping your home safe and protected.

5) INCREASE EXERCISE VIA LEARNING: teaching your animals new tricks stimulates your mind and body as well as that of your pets. I recently saw a kit to teach tricks to aquarium fish. Why not?

6) TAKE A CLASS: Your local community’s animal-related businesses may offer classes with additional ideas to keep your pets busy, including handmade toys and boredom-blasters.

7) TAKE A WALK: Dogs aren't the only animals who enjoy getting out of the home. People are now walking their cats, pot-bellied pigs, and reptiles.

8) JOIN A GROUP: Depending on your type of pet, you may want to join groups that meet and compete in activities or events that animals enjoy like obstacle courses or fun, easy races. No groups or events like this in your community? Start one yourself for the sake of the animals!

9) ACTIVATE THE MERIDIAN SYSTEM: meridians are invisible energy channels that become clogged due to inactivity, stress, or trauma. You can easily correct that by simultaneously running your hand from the top of your pet's head, down the spine to the base of the tail and saying, "I now recharge and rebalance my animal's meridian systems to 100% effectiveness."

This may also deepen the heart bond that you both share.

Mind-Body Wisdom for Acne Relief

Your skin is an emotional barometer of your mental well being, as well as your body's largest organ. It’s the boundary between you and the outside world, reflecting to yourself and others how you emotionally and mentally perceive your life.

Skin conditions, including acne, can be provoked by painful emotions from past experiences at any age.

EMOTIONS TRIGGER SKIN CONDITIONS
You probably noticed that your acne worsens with continued negative or traumatic experiences, such as heightened stress at work or school.

The medical profession is finally acknowledging this mind-body-emotions connection. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, MD, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston states, "Studies that show that at least 30% of all dermatology patients have some underlying psychological problem that often goes unaddressed, at least on initial visit, but if addressed, it can have a very positive and powerful impact in improving the skin condition."

The use of rapid emotional release techniques not only relieves stress, it’s been proven to assist in the healing of teenage and adult acne. I recommend EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques, either the full tapping routine or a shortcut method for fast relief. The key to your clear skin is to target then clear specific fear-based emotions at the root of this condition.

How can you identify those acne-triggering emotions if you’re not a medical intuitive? Read on!


MORE ACNE ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE OR LEFT SIDE?
The location and appearance of your acne is a clue to the fear-based emotions to be released. To begin your analysis, take note on which side of the body the acne exists.

The RIGHT SIDE symbolizes fears about logical topics like money, income, school, job, business, finances.

The LEFT SIDE indicates fears about love-related topics like receiving or giving love, loved ones, doing what you love for work or pleasure, i.e., “me-time”.

Acne on BOTH SIDES of the body indicates both logical and love-related fears. For example, a man with right and left side facial acne may be afraid to face having to stay in a job he dislikes because he has to pay his bills. He may also have lumps of angry acne due to facing the fact that his girlfriend wants to date other men.

MORE CLUES TO YOUR ACNE'S EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS
You can further decipher the body-mind-emotions link about acne by observing its appearance: red, inflamed, sometimes infected bumps and lumps that occur on one or both sides of the body.

Take note of the below descriptions that apply to your acne and the associated feelings that arise when you read them. These are clues to your emotions to be released.


ACNE: Repressed fears about a person or situation that “got under your skin”; wanting to keep the world at a distance, needing to be alone or be anti-social.

BUMPS: Expressions of fear about people, life and life’s bumpy path or blocks; feeling swollen and stuck, mad at the world due to current/past events.

CYSTS: Fears that life or situations are hard, tough or difficult, must emotionally shut down and cannot trust or communicate with others, build a protective hard wall or unbreakable lump to stay safe from what appears to be a permanent, rigid situation.

DRY, FLAKY SKIN: Fears about all or a part of life drying up and being flaky, or that others think you are flaky; trying to shed uncomfortable things, situations, people or old memories.

INFECTION/WHITEHEADS: Fears of outside influences, feeling under attack, invaded, helpless, defenseless, hopeless, never-ending stress, anger, irritations in life that break down resistance.

ITCHINESS: Wanting something to be over and done with, i.e., “itching to get this acne resolved”; someone or something is rubbing you the wrong way, scratching at your surface and/or invading your boundaries.

OILY SKIN: Excess of emotions that are not being expressed and are coming out of the skin; feeling that too much is coming at you at once from the outside world.

PAIN: Life or parts of life hurt; fear the bad times will never end; not receiving enough tender care, touching, attention, play and fun; aching for love or change in exterior world but having to face a painful life.

REDNESS: Unexpressed anger, irritation, frustration, rage, any repressed red hot emotions.

Now that you’ve identified which side of the body is affected and the emotions triggering your specific acne symptoms, determine the exact body area afflicted. The most common acne area is the face.

The mind-body-emotions symbology for facial acne is fear of FACING the reality of your life, certain people or issues; feeling what’s the use.

ONE LAST STEP TO CLEAR SKIN
Your final step is to release those emotions to allow your skin to heal. Use whatever modality you prefer, but be sure the emotional irritations are 100% cleared.

The time lapse between doing the emotional release work and seeing your skin beginning to clear up can be one to fourteen days, depending on the severity of your condition.

Healing with Mind-Body Wisdom

Are you blaming your BODY for unwanted physical conditions?

What if, contrary to popular beliefs, your ailment was warning you about a stress-caused imbalance in the afflicted area?

What if each condition was your body’s way of telling you exactly what emotions should be released to create healing and total well being?

This concept of seeing the body and its conditions as signs of emotional imbalance or distress is called mind-body wisdom. Perhaps you’ve heard of it, but never really understood how it works or what it means.

Mind-body researchers, including authors Louise L. Hay, Deb Shapiro and Dr. Bruce Lipton, have found that the human body wants to be healthy. When bodies have emotional blocks to healing, then a lack of wellness and/or pain eventually surfaces.

Dulling pain by taking over the counter medications is ignoring our bodies’ plea for help, telling them to shut up. After some time, the body may stop speaking to us, and lapse into chronic illness.

MY STORY
In 2002, after extreme job stress, the death of my father, and relationship heartbreak, my body ached all over. Doctors offered me medication with scary side effects. I chanted countless affirmations, cleaned up my diet, did yoga and meditated. Still I ached with every step, each day a living nightmare, feeling on the verge of collapse.

I was only 48 years young, feeling like I was 148 years old.

I discovered the physical benefits of meridian clearing via a holistic radio show. Combining my mind-body knowledge with gentle acupressure called “tapping” provided the relief I sought. I learned to appreciate, rather than condemn, my body’s ailments. They weren’t weaknesses, they were pleas for help!

I felt empowered to regain control of my well being. You can too!

MIND-BODY-EMOTIONS SYMBOLOGY
The location of your condition is a clue to the emotion or fear to be released. First, note the side of the body on which the condition exists.

The right side symbolizes fears about logical or masculine topics like money, income, school, job, business, and/or power, or similar fears about those issues in your loved ones’ lives.

The left side indicates fears about feminine or love-related topics like receiving or giving love, human and animal loved ones, doing what you love for work or pleasure, i.e., “me-time”.

Conditions on both sides of the body indicate a combination of fears about the above life areas.

MIND-BODY WISDOM FOR HIP ISSUES
Next, consider what the afflicted body area does and how it helps you each day. For example, your hips facilitate your body’s movement into new activities and directions. Here’s how hip ailments translate into mind-body wisdom:

Hip stiffness indicates emotional resistance to moving from the past into the future, feeling inflexible about change.

Hip joint inflammation can be triggered by repressed red hot emotions such as anger or fury, about being forced to go in an undesirable direction on your life path.

Right and left side hip pain may be a sign of your fears of moving forward in the areas of love and money.

When you understand what your body is telling you, then release those emotions via any meridian clearing modality, you open your body’s energy channels to well being. I'm 100% pain-free and living proof of these concepts' success.

(1) When you’re afraid or nervous, your body sweats and/or shakes, right?

Clearing Your Job Hunting Resistance

Statistics show that over half of people who've been out of work for two or more years have given up looking for work.

Some people might call them lazy or shiftless.

I think they are frozen in fear, filled with dread of more rejection and failure.

How & Why to DE-STRESS Your Animal Friends

During my yearly physical check-up, my doctor commented he was glad to see a patient with normal blood pressure and lab test results.

He said he'd noticed MANY of his patients are totally freaked out over the presidential election this year. Several of them, no matter what age they were or which candidate they supported, went ballistic right there in the exam room! Their blood pressure tests were dangerously high.

He said he'd never seen such anxiety about an election in his many years of practice.

This animal-lover wondered how the humans' tension was affecting their pets.

The animals in your life always sense your energy levels, and adjust their energy accordingly. They instinctively know that the WELL BEING of the family unit depends on well-balanced energy.

If you're anxious about the election, finances, relationships, work, or school, your animal may try to absorb your stress in an attempt to keep YOU and the family environment healthy.

Let Go of SHAME in Minutes!

SHAME is a deadly emotion. It infiltrates every area of our lives. It cleverly hides while it works to erode our self worth and drain our energy.

Shame affects our third chakra, which includes the digestive tract, blood sugar and pancreas. One study I read online claimed that women with body shame have increased infections and illnesses.

As I've had digestive tract issues, I dowsed myself to uncover my pockets of shame. After 14 years of being an EFT/Tapping meridian clearing practitioner, I figured I'd be 99% free of shame.

My smugness soon vanished as I found layer upon layer of shame as each memory arose. (Admittedly, I had a wild youth from my 20's thru my 50's!)

After tapping away all that old emotional crap, I felt MAGNIFICENT, confident, re-energized, and guilt-free.

YOU TOO can STOP wearing that mantle of SHAME!

If you're unfamiliar with tapping, here's a quick shortcut to get you started:

1) Using your index and middle fingers (of either hand), gently tap under your nose and above your upper lip as you repeat any of the below clearing statements. (You can also make up your own releasing phrases.) This action unclogs non-beneficial emotions from your Governing Vessel Meridian, which in turn clears your energy system.

2) As you do the above, repeat releasing statements about what emotions and energies you want to let go from things you did, said, or should have done.

For example (fill in your situations after the ellipsis),

I now release all my shame and guilt about....
I now let go of my guilt and shame from when I...
I clear out my regret, shame and guilt when I didn't....
I release all shame and allow my precious body to heal...

Instill positive energy via affirmations such as:

I now forgive myself for all the times I ....
The energies of love and peace now heal my body!
I choose to love myself and release all emotional pain.
As I let go of all regrets and shame, I feel massive joy and self-love bubbling up and flooding my Being!

A Course In Miracles: Tapping Opens Your Understanding

My spiritual journey with A Course In Miracles (ACIM) began in the 1990's. Like most ACIM students, I had difficulty understanding some sections, and took issue with some of the teachings.

In 2002, I learned how to release all non-beneficial emotions by tapping on my acupressure points. What a relief to know that no matter how awful I felt, I could immediately clear the emotions rather than waiting for "time to heal all wounds."

Soon I began tapping away my various blockages to ACIM teachings.

Most noticeably, after clearing my blockages to lesson 77, "I am entitled to miracles," the wondrous miracles flowed into my life. Synchronistic events began occurring and still occur daily that keep me grinning in amazement and gratitude.

For those unfamiliar with tapping, here's a quick shortcut to get you started: Using your index and middle fingers (of either hand), gently tap under your nose and above your upper lip as you repeat any of the below clearing statements. (You can also make up your own releasing phrases.)

That area under your nose is the endpoint of the Governing Vessel Meridian. Simply tapping on it while talking about the emotions you want to release will begin the clearing process of those emotions. Remember to breathe normally throughout the process.

Here are the ACIM clearing statements I used:

Even though I sometimes have a fear of failure to understand these complex teachings, I release this fear, open my mind and heart to comprehend these lessons that will help me do God's work on Earth.

Even though I am afraid I will lose myself to these powerful teachings, I choose to believe these lessons will enhance my life for the better and I will never lose "me".

Even though I don't resonate with the idea that God must be male, I remember that this book was written in the 1960's. I choose to change the He/Him to Father/Mother/God as I read the text and when I feel it is appropriate.

Even though I was taught that only Jesus was the light of the world and I don't feel worthy to even read lesson 61 "I am the light of the world." I now accept that I am worthy and can enlighten the world about healing via tapping.

Even though I remember the nuns and priests teaching me that I don't deserve to work miracles, I choose to release this old energy pattern and accept that I CAN and WILL work miracles when I am ready.

Even though Catholic authority figures told me I'd go to hell if I believed I could work miracles like the saints and Jesus, I release this fear and believe ACIM teachings are safe and right for me now.

Even though I have all these old fears of a vengeful God and hell and purgatory, I feel safe to release these childhood fears, to live in love and peace, reading and living the ACIM teachings.

I have a right as a Child of God to work miracles and my God-given gifts and skills.

I now use tapping to open my heart and mind to the miracles of forgiveness, love and healing offered by A Course In Miracles.

The combination of ACIM and emotional release via tapping has deeply enriched my life. I tap in the loving ACIM teachings as I read them each day. You can too!

Three Ways to Release Dental Anxiety That Worked for Me

If you’re reading this, you probably experience fear in the dentist’s office, or know someone who does. Maybe your dental anxiety is so severe that you can’t even make or keep an appointment for dental work.

Fear no more!

I know how you feel. I had extreme dental anxiety since childhood. Our family dentist convinced my mother that kids’ mouths didn’t need to be numbed before drilling. He didn’t have high-speed dental drills with cooling water. I remember my tears flowing as the horrible pain exploded in my nerves. I thought I would lose my mind.

As an adult, I completely neglected my dental health. Merely thinking about making a dental appointment caused a panic attack. By my mid-twenties, brown plaque lurked along my gum line, and I had tooth decay. My mouth was a disaster.

COMMON DENTAL WORK FEARS & PHOBIAS

Many of us who had “old school” dental work BEFORE gentle, painless dentistry still have dental anxiety or fear. Common fears about dental work include:

- Going for a simple cleaning and exam, then hearing we need further work

- Another physically or emotionally painful experience at the dentist’s office

- Needles inserted into our gums, or even seeing the needle before injection

- Feeling pain, helpless, trapped, afraid of suffocating, can’t swallow

- Humiliation or shame because of our fearful reactions, or comments by the dentist or oral hygienist, no matter how well-meaning they meant to be

THREE WAYS I RELIEVED MY DENTAL ANXIETY

What can you do to release these anxieties? You’ve probably tried many things, like I did. Below are three methods that worked for me. The first two are temporary fixes.

The third one is PERMANENT, and can be used for yourself and family members--even pets and children.

(1) DENTAL DISTRACTION: I took a CD player, ear buds, and comedy CDs with me to dental appointments. Hearing comedians tell funny stories kept my attention off the dental work and drill sounds, and in a jovial mood the entire visit.

(2) SEDATIVES: one kind dentist prescribed a half a Valium, 30 minutes before each visit. I didn’t care about anything for three hours, thanks to the drug. Sadly, the dentist moved out of state and I couldn’t find another one who’d prescribe anti-anxiety drugs.

Both of the above methods helped me temporarily get through the appointments. Yet I still had PRE-DENTAL VISIT ANXIETY every day and night, two weeks before the appointments.

My fear triggers were activated whenever I thought about visiting the dentist again. You probably have it, too, right?

(3) TAPPING: after thirty years of dental anxiety, I learned about “tapping”. Stimulating a few acupressure points with my fingertips while repeating phrases like, “I now release my fear of not being safe whenever I hear the whine of a dental drill” permanently released all my fears of visiting the dentist! Tapping is also called EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques and MTT: Meridian Tapping Techniques.
