Geraldine DeRuiter is founder of The Everywhereist blog, which TIME magazine described as "consistently clever" (note: Geraldine brings this up a lot. Even when it's not pertinent to the conversation). While ostensibly a travel writer, she also writes extensively about desserts she's enjoyed as well as Jeff Goldblum's entire filmography. Rather miraculously, her work has also garnered the attention of FORBES Magazine, which listed her blog as one of its Top 10 Lifestyle Websites for Women for 3 consecutive years, and THE INDEPENDENT, who included her on their list of 50 Best Travel Websites. (So, you know, that TIME thing was not just a fluke or a result of the editorial team getting drunk.)

Hi Sana,

I'm still ironing out the details on my tour, but I've had a lot of requests to visit SF, so I'm hoping that my publisher will make that happen. My blog traffic fluctuates, esp since I haven't blogged in a while, but it tends to be between 200k - 600k a month. Hope that helps! (less)

Trigger warning: please note that this is a blog post about online abuse, and includes screen caps of tweets sent to me. Graphic threats and abusive, hateful language toward women appear therein.

A few weeks ago, I gave a keynote talk at World Domination Summit in Portland. The thesis: while we regard online misogyny and abuse of women as something wholly separate and different from its so-c...

She Regrets Nothing by Andrea Dunlop
"She Regrets Nothing sucks you in from the very first page and doesn't let go until the end. I could not put this book down. The unexpected twists and turns had my heart racing as I read through this book. It's like Sex and the City with a high sta..." Read more of this review »
All Over the Place by Geraldine DeRuiter
"Full disclosure: I am Dog Shit Mindy (or Paris Mindy as Geraldine more kindly calls me) from page 216. That is to say, I am biased. This book is every bit as warm, wonderful, and weird as Geraldine is in real life."
All Over the Place by Geraldine DeRuiter
"Like most basic people I discovered Geraldine DeRuiter's blog through the most basic way: Time Magazine's List of Top 10 (or 25? I forget) blogs. But since 2011, I have been an avid reader of The Everywhereist, commenting and reading on her candid..." Read more of this review »
More of Geraldine's books…
“What matters is that you find the right person with whom to spend your time on this earth. Someone who will take care of you when you are sick. Who will love you and the extra hole in your head. Who will drive for hours while you sleep in the passenger seat. Someone who will show you how immense the universe is and still make you feel that you are the brightest thing in the sky.”
Geraldine DeRuiter, All Over the Place: Adventures in Travel, True Love, and Petty Theft

“Sometimes you can’t let a complete dearth of natural talent or ability stop you from doing something.”
