house reno update
i love that you guys have been asking for house reno photos. the last photo update was three weeks ago. you can see that update here.
a lot has happened since three weeks ago. we've got trim, doorway casings, baseboards, crown molding, some paint on the walls, and major basement remodel is coming along! oh yes, and the floors have been sanded and coated and they are GORGEOUS but you can't see as they're all covered up in these photos.
here's a quickie tour of the living room showing...

i am enough, my silly schedule, gift beat, and more!
i've been chuckling about my craziness lately and wanted to give you a glimpse into my life these days. it goes something like this: 7 - 8am: wake up, shower (if i'm lucky) and head straight to annie's donuts for a chocolate glazed donut and tea. don't worry, lots of protein and nourishment come later in the day :)
8-9am: deliver donuts to crew working at the house. walk through renovation site. take note of a million things that still need to be done. make a list a mile long (every day) of...

wide open
(sidewalk crack beauty)I have been thinking a lot lately about how much I love doing all the meaningless things that make up my day. I love all the randomness of running errands, of bumping into previous co-workers, of watching people buy building materials at home depot. I wonder who that person is in the car next to me at the stoplight. Do they have a family? Are they sad, happy? I love observing all the young families in the grocery store and wonder how they're holding up, or how they're c...

on men and men.
(found in portland)we are in the major homestretch of our house renovation. i am spending hours upon hours managing this project, keeping everything on task, and running around to homies (home depot) and countless other places (tile, lighting, flooring, painting, and on and on). there are SO MANY details. i feel like i'm back in the 7th grade navigating my first major science project only on a much larger scale. i am learning so much about water mains, and electrical, and sheetrock, and moldi...

love is center
i can slowly feel myself returning to my center. last nite as i was snuggling up against john, all i could think was this is what's most important, right here, this love. it's been mighty stressful over here on a few fronts and not being settled in a home for so long is beginning to take its toll. i have found myself so caught up in the stress and minutia of all the projects we have going on, but these quick and simple reminders of what's most important are incredibly healing to my soul. in t...

my current truth.
(sink into the couch. go ahead, nap if you want to)it's been a rough few days over here. there is release. and exhaustion. and hormones. and tears (i swear, they are coming at all angles, all day, like a surprise guest that won't ever leave). i'm taking some time to nap and rest and unplug. i'm watching television, reading magazines, picking out paint colors and going to bed early. i have all the signs of burnout so i'm doing what i can to find my new equilibrium. i've scheduled a day at...

some thoughts...
i saw this sign the other day on the side of a building in portland (the home rebuilding center) and i couldn't help but think of all my fellow ecourse flyers. our journey has come to an end this week - the ecourse is over. i have been significantly changed by this little ol ecourse and the community of people who were a part of it with me. when i sat down to write the last post - the celebration/farewell post, i got so weepy. i thought of all the ways this experience has challenged me to...

gratitude
earlier this week, i went out to the oregon coast with john and his pal (and the dogs) for a day trip. they surfed and i took photos. and soaked up the sunshine. and took a nap. and wrote the following gratitude list:totally thankful for:- watching my husband inside his passion: surfing with his bffs, being near the ocean, and appreciating these moments of stillness. he is happiest when in the water on a longboard. i love witnessing this part of him.
- a long dinner with an old high school...
