the gift of hula, pregnancy photos, and a sheltering in

these polaroids taken by friend hula have been a seriously treasured gift. the shot above was my first pregnancy shot taken by someone else - taken a couple of weeks ago on the oregon coast. i'm a huge fan of hula's work and it was such a generous treat to be photographed by her. she has such a raw talent for capturing mood and light and sentiment and she does it all in this really unique artful/designer way. i just love it. and i simply adore her .

as i mentioned in an earlier blog post, it w...

e-book affiliate program - wooohoooo!!!!

I'm so excited to finally launch an affiliate program for the Flying Lessons E-books! As many of you know, Flying Lessons was first an e-course, and now it's a series of e-books. The e-books have had a tremendous response, in large part because of the response to the e-course. You can read some of the kindness/feedback here.

I can't thank YOU enough for telling your friends, your blogging friends, your social networking friends about these e-books. They are, in all honesty, some of my hardest ...

simple DIY stool project + other thoughts

i dropped off my parents at the airport earlier today. i was sad to see them go. i simply cannot believe all that they helped us accomplish with this move and unpacking and building and painting and organizing and making our new house a home - i'm going to share some of the projects we did this week, starting with a simple DIY project today. the whole time they were here i battled the gremlins of i'm asking for too much, they are working too hard, how will we ever repay them. i did my best to...

pregnancy is kicking my ass but my parents are making it all better.

holy holy moly. that's all i can muster up at the moment in between endless unpacking, rearranging, and running errands. i'm in my 8th month of pregnancy and i am most definitely feeling 8 months pregnant. i was wondering when the serious fatigue and aches would set in. and they have most certainly set in. my heels have never burned so much and i swear i'm not even on my feet that much at all. my mom is making me sit on my tush while she does the bulk of everything, but still...my feet are...

the kitchen: before and after

this is a serious transformation. i'm so excited to share it with you guys! we can hardly believe this is our kitchen.....
here are a few photos of our kitchen when we bought the place. it was tiny, had weird linoleum floors that had been sponge painted with green paint, and a very odd layout. oh, and there were no appliances either:
P4200014 the door you see on the right went to a yucky mudroom. we knocked down that whole wall that the door was on and bumped out the kitchen 4' x 15'
P4200015 this was where the...

my ridiculous office.

portable office i had to share this with you guys because it sums up how i've been living and working for 4+ months. this is my little portable office on the front porch of the renovation house. and it's where i've been working for months. i've been stealing (ahem, borrowing) the wi-fi from our neighbors. and that would be a box aka my desk. and yes, that would be a fold up camp chair. yep. and that backpack - it's been holding all my important stuff for months, like my own little personal safe, but on my...
