Maurice has been involved in the creative arts since his teenage years. Having worked and played in rock/blues bands for most of his adult life, the artistic role models that he came to admire were those authors that wrote the poetry, lyrics, and music that touch and move our very souls. Deciding to take a break from the music career, he has rededicated his creative energies toward writing.

Then there is the "business geek" side of him as well. With an MBA degree, and having started several entrepreneurial ventures, he has an obsession with new business ventures, data analytics, and statistics. This passion becomes very evident in his writing style.

As I have found out the hard way, the first time through the wringer takes up an incredible amount of time if you want to at least try to position yourself properly for your debut launch. Web site, book cover, pro editing, social platform building, promotion, etc. all are time consuming. Good news is the more you write and publish the easier it will become and your fan base will build...and oh, yes be sure to join the Support for Indie Authors Group here on GR. (less)

It was a time of great economic and political transition for all of Eastern/Central Europe. It was easy enough to get caught up in the "wild and crazy" Budapest nightlife and culture, that was so much different from America. I used to always ask myself "what if he/she is?" when interacting both personally and in business transactions. "Playing games with the faces...," as Simon and Garfunkel would say. This was the fodder that prompted the writing of my debut fictional, international thriller novel, The Budapest Experiment. (less)

Navigating the Self Publishing Storm - "Dead Calm"

Flickr photo by Craig Morey

I’ve made it through the initial waves of the storm. Eighteen months’ worth of writing, editing, anxiety, formatting, book cover creation, writing a blurb, self-doubt, launch promo, platform building, and experiencing all the ups and downs that go along with being a newbie Indie Author. In the end, with great pride, I can say that I have succeeded in fulfilling a lifelong dream of publishing a... Read more of this blog post »

Kerri,Thanks for the add. I am new to GR, so hope to make many friends here, but you will always be the first :). Sure is a lot of work getting started here and figuring out good groups to join, making friends, etc., but I'm sure will get easier as time passes. I am also a newbie author, waiting for my manuscript to come back from the editor with final changes. Maybe someday my novel(s) will have the privilege to be added to your TBR pile. Thanks again, Maurice
