I didn't see this earlier. Been busy with my new book and haven't come over to Goodreads in a while. I've finally completed everything and am waiting for an error to be corrected in the file at CreateSpace, and I'm good to go.

As for how much time it takes to blog, well it all depends on what I blog. I rarely write much these days and only add something that's already done, like a few short paras about a book or share something from another site. It doesn't take much time. Also I have linked my blog to places like LinkedIn and Goodreads, so I don't have to repeat everything again.

Winner – Terracotta Stele, Amilcare Solferini International Poetry Competition 2025

My poem “On Deciding to Become a Poet” won the TERRACOTTA STELE in the Amilcare Solferini Poetry Contest 2025. The official award ceremony is scheduled for November 30 at Pavone Canavese Castle, not far from Turin, Italy.

What’s interesting is that my poem will be engraved onto an artistic stele by master ceramist ALESSANDRO ACTIS GROSSO. I’ve been told it will take a year to be created. Next year

“Raise your sons to be
better humans, before you tell your
daughters
to cover up.”
Shirani Rajapakse, The Way It Is

“Your daughters are
receptors of knowledge, filled
with interesting ideas,
thoughts that could generate great
conversations, find solutions to the world’s
problems, if
you care to engage them in talk.
Don’t force them to be
something they are not, because your
sons have no control
over themselves.
Don’t shut them in,
imprison them
in shrouds, black cloaks
with only their eyes showing, covering
them up like corpses ready
to be thrown on
a communal burial heap.”
Shirani Rajapakse, The Way It Is

“Democracy rules, you know. We have
freedom of expression, or so
we are told, yet our lips are sealed with
unspoken threats.”
