My long lost “GoldenEye” sweatshirt was stacked with Jeanette’s sweaters. I got it on the press junket! (at Palatine, Illinois)

During lunch time I went into Pier One, a store Jeanette loved, just to look around. I wound up walking out with a springtime table set for our dining room. A while back, probably shortly after she was diagnosed, we went into Pier One and Jeanette picked out table settings for fall and winter. But our dining room table had become a repository for file folders and paperwork. I use the table for doing taxes because I need to spread out, and one year I didn’t put the paperwork away and the table...

Jeanette loved her Great Courses. She may have been addicted to them, she bought so many. So when a new catalogue arrived a few days after she passed away, I figured she would want me to order a couple – especially since all courses were being offered for $35 (normal price range is from $90 to $250). I think she would appreciate my choices. She does want me to take care of myself. (at Palatine, Illinois)

Yes, I voted. And you bet I voted YES for the Palatine library referendum. It’s a small price to pay for a better community. (at Falcon Park Recreation Center)

Larissa DeJonge would love to have this piece of art up on her bedroom wall, but $1,400 is a bit steep for her. #ramones #TheBoyWhoKnewTooMuch

On my way back from O'Hare after dropping Mom off, I stopped at a Hallmark store where I spotted this throw pillow and bought it because Jeanette would have liked it. I have convinced myself it isn’t a totally frivolous purchase because it provides much-needed lumbar support for this chair. (at Palatine, Illinois)

Hey! It’s the 20th anniversary of my sweatshirt commemorating my 20-year eighth-grade reunion! My wardrobe doesn’t change much over the decades.

Jeanette recently told me: “When you see the full moon, think of me. I always loved the full moon. That’s where I’ll be. I’ll be bouncing off moon beams. I’ll be on the surface, exploring. I’ll learn math and physics. I’ll have all the time in the world.”

When I was dressing for her funeral this morning, I had a doo-wop channel streaming through the TV. I stepped out for a bit, and when I stepped back in to put on my tie, a doo-wop group (I’m ashamed to say I don’t know which) was singing “I’...

Today was not the best day of my life by a long shot, but I smiled when I got home and found my @foliosociety edition of “Thunderball” with beautiful illustrations by @faydalton_illustration waiting for me. #jamesbond #007 #Thunderball (at Palatine, Illinois)
