Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved. Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that's her own five or the hundreds of students she's been lucky to teach. When Kandi's not spinning words to create stories, she's using them to teach students about Spanish, life, and leadership.

The first book of the Dragon Courage series is free on all outlets. Receive book 2 by signing up for her newsletter at: http://wordpress.us12.list-manage.com...

Ever since June, I’ve been waiting to see this cover. I’d thought about how to go about getting the perfect cover for this story two years ago when I first wrote the book, but I didn’t think it would work. My vision was to have the students who inspired the characters as models on the cover, but I’d been discouraged when I’d approached one of the parents. When I asked her, in a vague sort of wa...

Love this series. This was my second time reading it. Book 1 is a bit slow at the beginning and I know understand why my daughter didn't finish it, but the rest of the books really move along and give a good feel of a space opera.

Unique sci-fi

Along the lines of Star Trek in that the whole story takes place on board ships. The plot seemed to move slowly, but then I saw Part 2 and realized how long the booknreally was. A paperback edition would have set me up for the length bet

Excellent story

I loved Hope. She was what every reader would be like in her situation. The idea of singing a heartsong resonated with me. It was a very unique way to share what the characters actually thought.

It kept me entranced from start to finish.

Plot is fast paced and characters believable. I enjoyed digging deeper into favorite characters from the earlier trilogy. Loved the blend of modern and fantasy.

“My #1 rule is write like no one is ever going to read it. Why? Because it gives you permission to be as audacious as you want.”

“Stories never really end...even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page.”
Cornelia Funke, Inkspell

Cornelia Funke
“Isn't it odd how much fatter a book gets when you've read it several times?" Mo had said..."As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells...and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower...both strange and familiar.”
Cornelia Funke, Inkspell

“Books have to be heavy because the whole world's inside them.”
Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

Cornelia Funke
“If you take a book with you on a journey," Mo had said when he put the first one in her box, "an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it... yes, books are like flypaper—memories cling to the printed page better than anything else.”
Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

“Which of us has not felt that the character we are reading in the printed page is more real than the person standing beside us?”
