M.D. (Michael Dirk) Thalmann, a novelist and freelance journalist specializing in satire and science fiction, lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife, children, and ornery cats, reads too much and sleeps too little. He has a couple dogs, too, but doesn’t like to mention them due to the slippers one of them ate in 2009, which neither has yet fessed up to. He is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and has been living in the desert since 2004 when he took the novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas entirely too serious and moved on a lark. He has been into journalism in one fashion or another and writing fiction and so on since he was ten years old or so and has gotten at least 20% better since that time. Today M.D. writes freelance and does co ...more

In other news, I have just entered the Space Opera Writers’ International Flash Fiction Competition with a story based on this image. I am not even allowed to announce the title as of yet, but I am quite proud of it.

Fun but flawed

This was anticlimactic and predictable, though fun and engaging. No resolution to the more interesting questions raised. The moving illustrations were a cool nuance, but didn't make up for the lack of substance
More of M.D.'s books…
“People are stupid, but oh can they talk. And when idiots talk, others will come from miles away in order that they may listen. This is the preferred method of reproduction for idiots. One idiot says something stupid, and someone else hears it. The thing that is said to them is utterly ludicrous buffoonery, but still they listen. After a while, it makes that person stupid as well, and he can’t wait to go tell everyone how stupid he is now.”
M.D. Thalmann, The 13 Lives of a Television Repair Man

“People always wanted to know what had caused this or that thing; always wanted to be given the reason. No explanation would do, but they wanted one anyhow, and would badger you until you’d invented one for them.”
M.D. Thalmann, The 13 Lives of a Television Repair Man
