That’s simply out of respect for other authors. I read ten+ books a month [1] and many of the books I read are three or fewer stars—however, in my mind that doesn’t mean I need to go out and label these works as bad. They may be books that the world can do without, perhaps, but often there are reasons, reasons well unrelated to the works themselves, why we may not enjoy all books or find them useful. And so here on Goodreads, I only acknowledge and rate the books I do find of use.

I also felt that the least I could do, after my five-plus years at Google, was to share some of what I had learned, and what worked at Google and the companies I had worked at before.

Website Issues: On the Relevance of Audience Size and Impact

Website issues—relating to conformance, security, accessibility, performance, content, others—are usually treated with a particular priority, but that priority may not always be understandable, and may also be off. On the perspective we obtain when we consider and chart audience size and impact.
