An Air Force wife, mommy of a little fairy, and Las Vegas native, my life is far from boring. I've written stories since I could hold a pen, so writing for a living is a dream come true, one that I carry out while staying at home with my baby girl. When I'm not writing or blogging, I can be found having fun with my family (husband, daughter, and spoiled black Labrador), doing chores (would much prefer writing), reading, going to church, belting Disney princess songs, exercising, or decorating cakes

I'm in love with stories. I've been narrating life in my head since I was little. It helps me to better understand life if I can hear it as if it were a story. Because if it is a story, it means, thanks the grace of God, there will be a happy endi

My daughter was born eleven days ago, and our house has been a happy whirlwind of craziness ever since. Actually, my daughter is also the reason I decided to self-publish in the first place. I began to write "Before Beauty" back in October, when I was about four months pregnant. I quickly realized I wanted to publish the book, but I knew if I didn't get it done before my daughter was born, there was a good chance it would be much, much longer before it was ever published. I have other works I'm interested in traditionally publishing, but I decided this one would be a good way to get my feet wet with in the world of publishing. Thanks for asking!(less)

Right now I'm working on the outlines for books #5, #6, #7, and #8 of The Classical Kingdoms Collection, three memoirs, and a Bible Study. I'm not going to be bored anytime soon!(less)

Intrusive Thoughts and the Unforgivable Sin Part I: Have I Blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

The struggle I’ve been asked about more than any other in all the time that I’ve spent writing about neurological disorders is that of the unforgivable sin. “I think that words in my head.” “I say bad words about God

Before Beauty - A Retelling of Beauty and the Beast (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:40PM
Description: Prince Everard’s father spent the boy's youth forging the prince into a warrior. Upon the king’s death, however, Everard realizes he’s lost himself somewhere along the way, and in his pain, makes a decision that brings a dark curse upon both him and the great Fortress that has so long guarded the people of Destin. The prince's sin doesn’t simply affect those of his citadel, however. Isa, the daughter of a local merchant, has suffered the prince’s hasty temper before, and it changed her life forever. When Everard’s final outburst cuts off his people’s source of protection with the curse, he demands that she, a crippled commoner, come to help him break it. All the while, Destin’s northern enemy crouches at the foot of the Fortress’s mountain, waiting for the right moment to capture the stronghold that has stood for a thousand years. With the freedom of Destin at stake, can both Everard and Isa find ways to move beyond their brokenness and hatred for one another, not only to break the curse, but to find love as well? Or will they and their beloved kingdom remain under darkness forever? Chapter 2

“No man has ever truly mastered the way to a woman’s heart.” Garin’s voice was kinder this time. “And anyone who thinks he has doesn’t deserve her.”
Brittany Fichter, Before Beauty

“But love isn’t doing things when we feel led to. Love is doing what someone needs when they need it. Hang feelings, Isa! Good wine will bring feelings, but when the night is over, none of those feelings bear witness to the truth! Feelings can come and go any time. When the Fortress wants you to do something, it will give you the power to do it. And it will expect it of you, whether you feel like it or not.”
Brittany Fichter, Blinding Beauty

“Sometimes we can get so caught up in protecting ourselves that we forget to see what’s truly before us.”
Brittany Fichter, Before Beauty

“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”
C.S. Lewis

“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty, I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
C.S. Lewis, On Stories: And Other Essays on Literature
