While I do schedule writing time into my week, I don't make it a priority to write for eight hours a day. I set aside short blocks of time, which I think is better for creation in the long run. I also take full advantage of those passionate bursts of creative energy. A perfect example happened last night. I not only had a new song come to me, but also a short story. I finished the rough cut lyrics/ideas of the song and then moved on to the short story; both of which I will revisit at another time.(less)

REJECTED: An Artist's Guide to Moving On

Being a writer, you experience a lot of rejection. I mean a lot! For every published story or article, I can count almost triple the amount of rejections. However, I have found that this lifestyle has given me a pretty solid backbone, and a rejection doesn't mean you're done creating or submitting work. You simply move on.

Please don't rest on your laurels. I celebrate my wins and then I move on t Read more of this blog post »

“Sweetness peppered with spice. A smidgen of naughtiness with the nice. Toss in some goofiness with the smart. Throw in some strength to support the heart. Cupfuls of love to even it all out and tenaciousness sprinkled in to combat the doubt. Cook over some fire to meld it all in and you've got one good woman underneath this skin. 2012”

“Art is the essence of life in creative form. If you want to compete, run a damn race. If you truly want to create essence, you need to leave competition out of it. 2014”
