I share a few things in common with Megan as far as her interests are concerned, but on the whole we're actually very different. I was nothing like Megan when I was her age and as much as I'd like to think I'd have acted like her if I were in her situation on Qarradune, I likely would have been far more terrified and less adventurous and easy-going haha. I think that's one of the reasons I like writing her so much. I love her character and writing her is like slipping into a comfortable pair of old clothes. She thinks and acts differently than I do, which makes her very interesting to me and a lot of fun to bring to life.(less)

I'll distract myself from my frustrations by turning my mind on to other matters to give the creative thinking part of my brain a break. I also find taking a walk in fresh air, showering, and even reading books by other authors can sometimes be helpful for breaking the block. The worst thing you can do, in my experience, is to try to force yourself to write when your heart is clearly not in it. If you battle yourself, you can never win. Be your best supportive friend, not your enemy.(less)

“Music had always had the ability to help ease my suffering. I sang a great deal at home. I sang to myself and to Lord Imery. Sometimes, I played the harp to accompany myself. Learning such a graceful instrument had filled my heart with pride. I loved the feeling of adding something beautiful to a room.

I looked down at my shaking hands. There were no melodies left in those withered fingers.”
