Aaron Dietz is the author of Super , a novel from Emergency Press about commitment, crisis, paperwork, and heartbreak. Dietz's super powers include a high metabolism and the ability to put things back where he got them. He's also pretty good at math.

As an instructional designer, Dietz has written online high school courses on computer programming, green design, and 3-D video game creation. It’s natural for him to write quizzes. He’s worked a decade in libraries. He’s also been paid to count traffic and once failed a personality test.

Dietz writes for TheNervousBreakdown.com, blogs at aarondietz.us, and is an advisory editor of KNOCK Magazine.

I don't remember the last time I had writer's block, but ultimately I just write and if I stop having fun writing I change something and keep changing things until it's fun again. Sometimes this means changing the venue I'm writing in (go to a coffee shop where I can get a cayenne mocha, for example), or sometimes it's change the format of what I'm producing (transform a part of the story into a comment card filled out by one of the characters, for example).

Whatever the case, I am fortunately not too challenged by writer's block, and perhaps this is because I constantly focus instead on having fun as opposed to producing words.(less)

I don't know when but I do know that whenever it is, I'll be a little sad that I didn't finish more projects. There is so much knowledge to pass on and so many ideas to try--I want to get as many of these out as I can before I'm gone.(less)

Amy Siskind’s Weekly List of Changes

I used to write stuff. Now I look at data in support of various pro-human causes. One of the things I’ve put together is a visualization of Amy Siskind’s weekly list, now available on its own website: theweeklylist.org

Aaron Dietz answered Goodreads's question: Aaron Dietz
Do it because it's fun, because very few people make sufficient money at it.

Side note: If something isn't fun then you're either doing it wrong or doing the wrong thing.

Duke Haney Can't wait to read "Super"! I saw the galley via Ben, who was very impressed. I said, "Am I going to be jealous?"

"No," he said, "you'll just be amazed."
