Terra Luft is a speculative fiction author whose imagination conjures mostly dark tales. Her work explores women’s themes and challenging societal norms in hopes of allowing fresh perspectives to emerge. As a kid, she was reading Stephen King and her mother’s discarded romance novels. It explains a lot.

Terra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and English with a minor in Communications from Southern New Hampshire University and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, and The League of Utah Writers where she serves as a member of the board as Membership Chair. If I've been avoiding a particular scene, I recognize it and force my butt in the chair until it's done. Usually I've procrastinated so long that my subconscious has already figured it out. Once I start writing, it usually flows. It is that chasm between myself and getting into the chair in front of the keyboard that is the hardest to overcome in most cases.(less)

The best way to get better is to write a lot of things. They will suck at first, you'll learn what works better, and each project will suck less. Eventually you'll be ready to publish and your work will be well received. Lots of people will tell you insider secrets about the best process but the reality is, you have to figure out what works for you because only you can. In the end, the best way to get published or sell your work is to write a good story. Good stories sell.(less)

It’s been a little quiet around here, but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been working hard on new things. Last year I wrote a very cool story that just released in this new collection focused on scents called “Trace Amounts.” I had a blast writing this one, and have no idea how to adequately […]

I tried to like this book. I made it halfway before I just cut my losses and moved on. It’s bleak and meandering and I couldn’t find a single reason to care about any of the characters.
