Who’s the mystery Mexican donor of $4 million to Scientology?

TODAY AT SUBSTACK: If you’ve signed up for free emails at Substack, you will receive today’s feature story at your inbox: Imagine if one of the biggest magazine publishing companies in the US not only began making large donations to Scientology, but even showed up to take home a trophy for it. That’s what apparently happened in one of the places in the world where Scientology is still showing life. [What is this Substack thing, anyway?]

“The meter registers charge found and then charge released. It registers charge found but not yet released by the needle getting tight, by DN, by a climbing TA or a TA going far below the clear read. Then as this cleans up, the charge is seen to ‘blow.’ Charge that is restimulated but not released causes the case to ‘charge up,’ in that charge already on the time track is triggered but is not yet viewed by the pc. The whole cycle of restimulated charge that is then blown gives us the action of auditing. When PRIOR charge is restimulated but not located so that it can be blown, we get ‘ARC breaks.'” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1978

Past is Prologue

1999: The St. Petersburg Times reported this week that the Tampa, Florida police department declined Scientology’s offer of a stress test outside police headquarters. “The Church of Scientology set up shop across from police headquarters Tuesday offering ‘stress tests’ and a lunchtime swing music concert. A letter faxed to the police department said they would ‘like to line up someone from the Police Chief’s office, or the Police Chief himself,’ to come on down and get an autographed CD by Jive Aces, a Scientology band. Mayor Dick Greco got an invite, too, and was later paid a visit by Scientologists, they said. The offer wasn’t much of a dilemma for police Chief Bennie Holder, said spokesman Steve Cole. ‘I know you have a busy schedule,’ Cole told Holder when he showed him the invitation. The chief’s response, Cole said, was simply ‘Thank you very much.'”

Q patriots thrilled that Trump is going after woke transgender mice

Trump claimed the Biden administration spent $8 million "making mice transgender." The White House tried to back up this number with records of funding for research into cancer, asthma, and HIV, some of which used *transgenic* (genetically modified) mice.https://t.co/lzSeA6SUjE

The far right is gutting the government, but one SCOTUS vote doesn't go their way, and suddenly one of the justices Trump put on the court is a "DEI hire." Nothing is ever enough for these people, they want everything and they want it right now. They're children. https://t.co/fghXdNZXdo

What Trump and Elon are actually going to find locked up in Fort Knox

TODAY AT SUBSTACK: If you’ve signed up for free emails at Substack, you will receive today’s feature story at your inbox: President Trump created a stir about checking on the gold at Fort Knox. For us it was a fun echo with a movie based on an L. Ron Hubbard novel, at a time when we’ve been detailing numerous connections between the White House and Hubbard’s other famous creation: Scientology [What is this Substack thing, anyway?]

“Invent games, devices, charts and training aids galore and teach with them and you’ll have auditors who can handle the time track and run engrams. Charge, the stored quantities of energy in the time track, is the sole thing that is being relieved or removed by the auditor from the time track. When this charge is present in huge amounts the time track overwhelms the pc and the pc is thrust below observation of the actual track.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1978

“There’s a population explosion going on and I wish to Christ somebody would inform me how men are far scarcer in l972 than I ever found them in 325 B.C. How could they expend them back then? I remember around the turn of the millennia and so on, there were just mobs unemployed. Well, right now they keep them all that way with relief and dough and this and that and the other thing, and they’ve got some workable scheme or another. One of the silly ones which you hear, we did a survey, we did a survey on people, what they liked and so on, just a general survey in the Scandinavian area, and we found what they liked best was welfare and what they hated most was taxes. Oh, brother. Outpoint to end all outpoints.” — L. Ron Hubbard, March 5, 1972

Avast, Ye Mateys

“INCOME: As Income at Flag in actual money not just credit is creeping steadily up, I think we should get alert to fully establishing org form and appearances of all three orgs especially the FSO. A mission just concluded shows the FSO in need of improvement in form and appearance, both of ship and FSO members. The basic and reasonable recommendation is that an LRH Comm FSO be appointed so that LRH orders and projects will get compliance by the senior officers as these orders and projects have built what was there. With rising Flag income potential, real meaning is given to this recommendation.” — The Commodore, March 5, 1971

“A Rons Org dude said to me Miscavige is in a Marcabian valance but didn’t want to directly say this because it was such special deep high gradient data which only Rons Org OTs know. You know how OTs act like they have superior knowledge and do that cheeky smile look. Anyway, it’s so silly because CBR’s ideas about Marcabians are exaggerated imagination delusions based on a fact that aliens do exist. He takes conspiracies too far. So it’s funny saying Miscavige is in a Marcab valance when the truth is that he is actually in an LRH valance which LRH made popular throughout Scientology and that’s why we have these hardcore angry Sea Org members and the severe reality adjustments. Want to know what LRH was like sometimes? Listen to the stories about Miscavige.”

Past is Prologue

1998: Graham Berry announced that he has formed a new law firm to continue his practice and his cases against Scientology. “Since late 1991, I have been engaged almost continuously in the handling of numerous large cases filed by the Scientology organization. During those seven years, various major insurance carriers have invested nearly $5 million in developing my experience, skills and education in matters involving cults, coercive indoctrination and psycho-terror groups. I have decided to establish my own law firm to aggressively handle demanding and dangerous litigation. The Law Offices of Graham E. Berry, at least initially, will be a general litigation boutique available to handle last-minute trials and emphasizing matters involving cults, coercive indoctrination, psycho-terror groups and other dangerous and difficult opponents.”

Random Howdy

“Seeing as how Scientology is the only ‘religion’ that doesn’t have theologians, there’s no worry about theological inconsistency. As far as plot-holes in the story go, the one thing that keeps them in is this steadfast assertion that they have observed auditing and the rest of the tech to actually work. If they can’t get past this and realize they have been tricking themselves, then at best they’ll be indies/FZ for the rest of their lives.”

When the government comes down hard on Scientology grifters

[Peyroux, left, and Detelich]

“An auditor who cannot handle the time track smoothly can scarcely call himself an auditor as that’s all there is to audit besides postulates, no matter what process you are using, no matter what process you invent and even if you tried what is laughingly called a ‘biochemical approach’ to the mind. There’s only a time track for the bios to affect. There’s a thetan, there’s a time track. The thetan gets caught in the time track. The job of the auditor is to free the theta n by digging him out of his time track. So if you can’t handle what you’re digging a thetan out of, you’re going to have an awful lot of landslides and a lot of auditing loses for both you and preclears.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1978

“Theta doesn’t have space or time. And therefore it’s very simple: Theta can just as well be in Milwaukee as Paris, simultaneously. And the only reason why you are this size conceptually and not the size of the galaxy conceptually is because you find it handier to conceive yourselves to be this size. And you’re actually looking at a piece of the physical universe — you, your body. But as far as your mind is concerned, there is no reason why it can’t only stretch through this galaxy but could go through all the island universes. You see how that could be? There is no limit, then, on how wide a mind can expand or how small it can contract, because it’s not size and it’s not time or space. Also, there is no reason why I can’t think something today and have you pick it up six months ago.” — L. Ron Hubbard, March 4, 1952

In short, Hades broke loose here when the stats didn’t go up at once there in two instances. Those lone guys better get a 2nd FEBC here in a hurry. It takes a team. Past is Prologue

1997: U.S. Department of State spokesman Nicholas Burns again answered questions about Germany and Scientology in a press briefing this week. “QUESTION: Nick, since relations with Germany are now so incredibly good, would you still criticize the German Government for discriminating against Scientologists after yesterday’s report in the New York Times on the unusual circumstances under which Scientology has gone to tax exempt status by the IRS? MR. BURNS: That was an interesting report in the New York Times. I read it with great interest. It revealed a lot about the Church of Scientology. I believe that the Church of Scientology’s tax exempt status is secure and there’s not going to be an attempt by the Treasury Department to turn it around. So that’s a reality that is a factor in our view of the treatment of Scientologists, but particularly American Scientologists who find themselves in Germany. The good news is that in her visit to Bonn, Secretary Albright had a very constructive, cooperative discussion of this issue with Foreign Minister Kinkel. You saw at the press conference in Bonn that he dealt with the issue in a very clear way, as did she. We’ve not changed our policy and our views on the situation of Scientologists in Germany. We certainly have a very respectful, cooperative dialogue with the German Government and, together, we have condemned those newspaper advertisements of the Church of Scientology and their Hollywood mogul supporters which have tried to compare the current situation of Scientologists to the situation of the Jews in the early part of the Nazi regime — the Adolph Hitler regime. We will continue to watch the situation of Scientologists because we have been concerned about it. But we’re dealing with it in a way that I think is satisfactory to both the German and American Governments.” QUESTION: Do you find it easier now to understand the German Government’s position that Scientology is not a church but rather a business enterprise? And so the abuses of religious rights is not really the matter? MR. BURNS: The difference here is that the United States Government does accord tax exempt status on the par with other religions. Therefore, we treat Scientology as a religion for the purposes of these human rights reports. We do have a difference of opinion on the issue of the Scientologists. We remain concerned. But I do think we found a way to work with the Germans, which is very important because we do have an excellent relationship with Germany.”

This isn’t like Scientology, to be late on a chance to smear Leah Remini, right?

[Scientology leader David Miscavige and Leah Remini]

TODAY AT SUBSTACK: If you’ve signed up for free emails at Substack, you will receive today’s feature story at your inbox: It’s been awfully quiet in Leah Remini’s lawsuit against Scientology, which she filed in 2023. And then we noticed something unusual, that church leader David Miscavige is late on an opportunity to smear Leah in appeals court. What gives, Dave? [What is this Substack thing, anyway?]

Technology Cocktail

“If an auditor hasn’t a ruddy clue about the time track and its composition, he or she won’t ever be able to run engrams. So, obviously, the first thing to teach and have passed in engram running is time track composition. When the auditor learns that, he or she will be able to run engrams. If the auditor does not know the subject of the time track well, then he or she can’t be taught to run engrams, for no rote commands that cover all cases can exist. You couldn’t teach the handling of a motion picture projector by rote commands if the operator had never imagined the existence of film. An auditor sitting there thinking the pc is doing this or that and being in a general fuddle about it will soon have film all over the floor and wrapped about his ears. His plea for a rote command will just tangle up more film so long as he doesn’t know it is film and that he, not the preclear, is handling it.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1978

“Scientology has various ends. Out of Scientology you could formulate, for instance, a very fine type of ‘thought warfare’ which — much better than an atom bomb. No, an atom bomb just kills people — but you could take in ‘thought warfare,’ you could enslave them utterly. You could, you’d make complete slaves out of them, with a very simple contraption. Very simple. We’re doing it the honest way in Scientology, because with a very simple contraption, with the greatest of ease, we could go around and anybody who was opposing Scientology would all of a sudden start being madly, insanely in favor of it. But that’s the easy way to do it, and that’s what’s wrong with the race, is everybody has tried it the easy way — control, restraint, more engrams, more punishment.” — L. Ron Hubbard, March 3, 1952

Avast, Ye Mateys

“From the inspection of the ship for sea, the decks, bridge, Commodore’s and Aides areas, E/R, most Div III area, Tweendecks, and interior areas looks good. The most glaring outnesses were in personal cabins and a few unsecured items in office area. The MAA has the list and all is to be ready by 0900 for his further inspection. Each crew member in his own time will thoroughly clean his cabin for an inspection tomorrow at sea. Well it will be good to get to sea. After the all hands, Watch E will take her out. Lets have a great trip and bring home the bacon!” — Capt. W.B. Robertson, Capt. Yacht Apollo, (1970)

Overheard in the FreeZone

“It’s time to challenge the 60-year-old cliché about DNA as the blueprint of the body. It’s more like a list of the proteins that the cell will produce in response to various cues, either internal or external. There might also be a distinction between the engrams of the GE and those owned by the thetan. Looking from the top down, from the thetan’s viewpoint, an engram is just a section of the time track that he isn’t taking responsibility for creating. But looking from the other direction, the GE holds engrams as valuable for building structure. And from early Dianetics up to his research on effort processing, L. Ron Hubbard was addressing the GE. The organism is the mind of the GE, a mind that records action – counter-effort and effort – rather than thought. I think biology is starting to reject the view of organisms as machines built to rigid plans, in favour of considering them more like analog computers that respond to an array of external counter-efforts with efforts ‘calculated’ to maximise their survival.”

Past is Prologue

1996: Karin Spaink posted an account of her day in court in the case of Scientology vs. numerous Dutch Internet providers. “Nauta Dutilh started: Hermans took the stand and said that many people did not hold his client in high esteem, and that no matter what that criticism was worth, they have rights, among them copyrights – and that these were what was at stake here; nothing else. ‘The controversial nature of my clients is irrelevant here.’ He explained that, as RTC held the secrecy of these materials very dear and had a vested interest in this confidentiality, they could not allow publishing or quoting the OT’s in any way whatsoever. Then Bakker Schut took the stand. He went on in great detail about Fair Gaming, how CoS treats its critics, the harassment of a.r.s, the rmgroup message, the lawsuits. He explained about OT 2 and about OT 3 – the complete Xenu story. He explained about the recent warnings given and measures taken by the German government, and quoted extensively from the brochure issued by the German government. He explained how the OT’s ended up in a court file and that they had leaked before; he explained that quoting parts of them was not only a right and fair use, it was also a right defended by both freedom of speech and public interest. Pors, for Planet Internet, took the stand, explaining that he only wanted to talk about the position of the providers. They had not been given evidence by plaintiffs to prove the alleged infringement; I had been able to explain to them that there was reason to doubt the infringement, so what were they to do? Tied up between their duties towards their subscribers and the complaints of an outsider. And only now, last week, RTC and NEPI had provided them with partial proof. Which only showed that it pays not to listen to RTC etc too soon – their claim was now much smaller than it had been earlier. Bakker Schut again explained about the OT’s – having them available was a matter of public interest because so many people had encountered psychological problems over them. (Both this time and before, when he mentioned OT 3, some CoS members could be seen stuffing their fingers in their ears. They did not want to hear this.) When the president of the court was about to adjourn the meeting at 16:30, Hermans got up and said: ‘Considering the great number of accusations that have been thrown at my client, could Mr. McShane please be allowed to speak and counter them?’ ‘NO,’ said the judge, ‘YOU were the one who started your speech saying that the controversial nature of your clients was not an issue here anyway.’ Verdict due on Tuesday, March 12, 14:00. We are optimistic.”

——————–

Random Howdy

“Seeing as how boxers get knocked out more than any other group, RTC is missing a golden opportunity to prove the efficacy of Dianetic theory by grabbing some punch-drunk pugilist off of Skid Row and giving him six months of auditing and then calling a press conference where the former rummy could recite Shakespeare and explain quantum theory to all present. Why doesn’t C.O.B. think of these things?”

2025 Oscars: Evil Masonic filth must always tell us beforehand about their deception, manipulation and lies – just like satan. pic.twitter.com/ycBSu8POle

Even Awakened Outlaw is starting to get sick of the "Always Soon, never now" existence of QAnon. He'll get over it due to Sunk Cost Fallacy and his need to maintain his audience, but still it clearly wears on him. pic.twitter.com/lSZVRiEpJx

We are in a dark, dark place man. @BillAckman a purportedly Serious Person, is suggesting CNN may have been tipped off about an assassination attempt. Instead of doing anything ab it, they just streamed it live. Do you know how deranged & gullible you have to be to believe this? pic.twitter.com/bvwtN89nU7

As long as Elon Musk is running his mouth about Social Security—which he appears to be trying to understand in real-time—I’ll note that DOGE has yet to find a single instance of fraud across the entire government, as I reported for @atrupar this week. https://t.co/Zze0U8Y7bw pic.twitter.com/gQ7R1G7zSL

What an exchange: This imbecile is a moron who should stfu but i will look into it anyways and, yeah, he was right. (also, not clear the contract is actually back on) pic.twitter.com/ItI5DGBPa2

— Sam Stein (@samstein) March 2, 2025

The beauty of DOGE is that it is self-correcting. For example someone pointed out to Musk that he was letting food we had already paid for go to waste, Musk called that person an "imbecilic propagandist", and then several hours later reinstated the wrong contract. https://t.co/JognILVr67 pic.twitter.com/DjpMfi75fd

None of these have been fixed.

Why does DOGE need to lie so much? https://t.co/myRkEXsxyu

Here it is, Scientology’s secret plan to end psychiatry as we know it

[Scientology’s Captain David Miscavige in 2006]

TODAY AT SUBSTACK: If you’ve signed up for free emails at Substack, you will receive today’s feature story at your inbox: Although the press has a way of tiptoeing around it, it’s long been obvious that Scientology, under David Miscavige, constantly wages a coordinated war against the psychiatric profession. It’s another thing, however, to get that assumption confirmed in black and white. [What is this Substack thing, anyway?]

“The whole handling of the time track can be done by any one of these three methods, Significance, Location, Time. Therefore all projectionist work is done by the Time of Significance, the Time of Location or Time alone. The track responds. Those auditors who have trouble cannot grasp the totality and accuracy and speed of that response. The idiotic and wonderful precision of the time track defeats the sloppy and careless. They wonder if it went. They question the pc’s being there. They fumble about until they destroy their command over the time track. ‘Go to 47,983,678,283,736 years 2 months, 4 days I hour and six minutes ago.’ Well, a clear statement of it, unfumbled, will cause just that to happen. The tiniest quiver of doubt, a fumble over the millions and nothing happens. Fumbled dating gets no dates. One must date boldly with no throat catches or hesitations. ‘More than 40,000? Less than 40,000?’ Get it the first read. Don’t go on peering myopically at the meter asking the same question the rest of the session. Accurate, bold, rapid. Those are the watchwords of dating and time track handling.” — L. Ron Hubbard, 1978

“It’s the inability of the Catholic Church, and the inability of the Methodist and Angelican and other faiths, to unravel the why that lay behind human-emotion-and-reaction that convinced them utterly that man was a sinful being and that was born in sin, and he was conceived in sin and born in sin and would die in sin, and that he was evil. You can see them now on the rostrum, on the platform shaking their fingers at their congregations and how they were evil sinners, and they were all sinners. That’s just all, they didn’t have the right why. So, your own future morale pursuing a line as an Establishment Officer actually is greatly dependent on your ability to penetrate a situation and discover a correct why.” — L. Ron Hubbard, March 2, 1972

Overheard in the FreeZone

“An ‘engram’ is a ‘quantum field’ of attention units, theta quanta of awareness, created by a being, and existing as stored (not in the brain), re-creatable mirrors of a physical universe event. They are not ‘located’ until called up again and recreated by the being, whereupon they can and do impinge on the body its glandular system, its nervous system, its communications and the cells and structures. There are parts of these that are continuously created as ‘automaticities.’ All of them are composed of postulated particles in space, ‘energy.’ DNA isn’t so much the blueprint as the list of materials available. The actual plans exist as memories of the theta, the life that animates the cell. They aren’t traces on cells, until put there, as memory, by life itself, manipulating the MEST. MIT won’t ever find a location, general or specific, in the brain for any engram, except when it is in restimulation. And if it involved the brain in the first place. The repository for engrams as stored re-creatable potentials of energy, is the being. It is life. Theta. With the ability to either recall and recreate, or keep in continuous creation. And, since there is no limit on how many mental energy pictures a being can make, you can ‘store’ an infinity of them, with nary a brain in sight. Consideration takes rank over mechanics. And today, in the study of physics, and now cellular biology, the functions of theta described thoroughly in Dianetics and Scientology has had the structure study just about catch up to it. Physical science and the humanities are coming together. It’s happening on numerous fronts. With a workable technology of the mind, and a means to rehabilitation of the spirit existing in Dianetics and Scientology, we have in our hands the means to a true enlightened age.”

Past is Prologue

2002: Former Scientologist Caroline Letkeman reported that she received her Suppressive Person declare from Scientology. “Caroline Letkeman, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, is hereby declared a Suppressive Person. Caroline Letkeman, in November 2001, formally resigned from the Church of Scientology by means of a public declaration. In addition to this, she demanded full refund of all funds donated to the
Church. In the year 2000, Caroline wrote an essay against Scientology which contained defamatory statements and black propaganda; this was written for a known suppressive group and was published through a broad communication medium. Attempts have been made by Church staff to assist Caroline to come to her senses, however, she refused these efforts to help her and has continued to commit suppressive acts. Caroline has committed the following suppressive acts: VIOLATION OR NEGLECT OF ANY OF THE TEN POINTS OF KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING. PUBLIC DISAVOWAL OF SCIENTOLOGY OR SCIENTOLOGISTS IN GOOD STANDING WITH SCIENTOLOGY ORGANIZATIONS. PUBLIC STATEMENTS AGAINST SCIENTOLOGY OR SCIENTOLOGISTS BUT NOT TO COMMITTEES OF EVIDENCE DULY CONVENED. DEMANDING THE RETURN OF ANY OR ALL FEES PAID FOR STANDARD TRAINING OR PROCESSING ACTUALLY RECEIVED OR RECEIVED IN PART AND STILL AVAILABLE BUT UNDELIVERED ONLY BECAUSE OF DEPARTURE OF THE PERSON DEMANDING. It is hoped that Caroline comes to her senses and recants.”

Random Howdy

“Even after all this time I’m still shocked at how this ‘religion’ is able to turn people into the biggest bunch of liars, bullies and amoral a-holes I’ve ever come across. I’m use to associating with junkies, prostitutes, and various other sundry shady types, but generally speaking, those people have more of a moral compass than your militant Scientologist.”
