Award-winning author of Spoonbenders, We Are All Completely Fine, Afterparty, Pandemonium, and others. Some of his short fiction has been collected in Unpossible and Other Stories.

He's won the World Fantasy Award, as well as the Shirley Jackson, Crawford, Asimov Readers, and Geffen awards, and his work has been short-listed for many other awards, including the Nebula . His books have been translated in over a dozen languages, and have been named to best-of-the-year lists from NPR Books, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and Library Journal.

He is also the writer of Flatline an interactive fiction game from 3 Minute Games, and comics such as Planet of the Apes.

Daryl lives in Oakland, California.

Daryl answered Amanda Kaplan's question: Hi Daryl! I am currently reading Spoonbenders and so far I am loving this book. Without giving any spoilers away, every time I read this book I am picturing Teddy as Ray Liotta and Maureen as Rachel Weisz...funny huh! Have you ever thought about this book being turned into a movie? By the way, I grew up in Oakland too! Love Ray Liotta. People have also suggested Kevin Kline! A TV show is in development. Hopefully I’ll have some news soon!

The most fun book I've read in quite a while. The book has serious things to say about evolution, ecology, and humanity-- but those messages never get in the way of this zippy, witty adventure, with a real hero you cheer for. My full review is here.
