Katherine L. Evans is a bestselling author of love stories that stay in your heart long after you reach The End. Prepare to laugh, cry, and escape to vivid settings.

Hi reader!

Welcome to the World of KLE!

The World of KLE is a lot like the real world, only more exciting, more romantic, and more dramatic. All of my characters exist in this world and they often run into each other outside of their own stories! Each of my books is connected to the rest through stories that intertwine in ways you'd least expect, and outside the realm of the traditional romance series. So if you find a character you particularly like, check out another book and you'll probably find them there too.

Three words: Take. A. Break.

I always compare writing a story to pregnancy. It's not going to come before it's ready, and if you try to force it, things are going to get ugly.

While you take a break, think about your characters and think about the situation. Act it out in your mind. Go through their dialogue in your head or aloud. What would they do and what would say while they're doing it, and how do they feel about everything that's happening?

If you get some good bits of dialogue or action, jot them down. Then when you're ready, fill in the details.(less)

You can go to places and do things that you would never otherwise get to go to or do. You can live a life you've always dreamed of, or you can survive things you'd never want to face in reality.

People read books to escape. Writing is an opportunity to do the same thing. Where do you want to escape to, and what do you want to do when you get there?

Personally, I love New York City, but it's a place I have only visited, and it's a place I know I'll never live. Consequently, everything I've written so far has taken place there. I also have a fascination with celebrity life, so my characters thus far have been involved in that industry. It's an interesting setting to explore what people who live that lifestyle would do when faced with trials that can happen to anyone. I've gotten some flack for this, but honestly, it doesn't bother me. Not every novel needs to be about the girl next door or the unassuming farm boy. Sometimes, it's fun to indulge in the fantasy a little. And as a result, I can paint a picture of how money really doesn't buy happiness, and material things are meaningless in the grand scheme of life.

Writing is a great way to experience drama without all of the realistic tragic consequences that go along with it in real life. Drama is exciting and interesting, but only when it happens in a controlled environment from which you can easily escape. I may have a pretty typical, normal, uneventful life, but when I sit down at my laptop, I can run the gamut of emotions and then disconnect when I'm done.

Finally, writing is one of the few things you can do that allows you to have absolute and total control of what you create. My job is to tell a story, and if that story is compelling enough, someone will want to read it. If nobody wants to read it, I still have something that is uniquely my own that never existed before the inspiration burst into my brain. It's truly a gift and I am quite humbled to have the opportunity to not only do something I love so much, but to make a living at it as well.(less)
