How did the bicyclist NOT get charged?

Broken bones and hospital stay a costly lesson in valley-path risks

Well, this article is a nightmare come true for all dog walkers/families who use the off-leash/park areas of Edmonton.

Why Writers Need Friends

Thanks to fellow EWG member for the clarification (again! One of these days, I’ll get it straightened out in my head) on passed versus past. As per Laurie:

Past can be:

An adjective - I was thinking of past times

An adverb - They hurried past (i.e. along)

A noun - I'm not going to reveal my past to anyone

A preposition - I walked past the store without thinking (i.e. in front of) or He's past retirement age (i.e. beyond)

Passed is the Past Participle of To pass.and is used of passing exams...

Are You the 1% Writer?

When you grow up in Georgetown, Guyana, you get used to certain things: sugarcane fields, hot days, and blood-sucking, vampire bats.  Tor the most part, the bats weren’t too much trouble but occasionally, they’d get into the house. My dad would go after them, broom in hand…he’d disappear for a while, then come back with something black in his hand.

I knew what it was: his sock. He’d chase us around the house. My sister & I would squeal and shriek, screaming, “No, Daddy! Don’t throw it"!...

And…

I’ve been staring at the computer screen for hours (okay, 12 minutes), trying to think of what comes next in this Christian novel I’m working on and…I feel the sudden urge to switch back to mystery and kill somebody.

Decidedly unchristian, no?

Sigh.

I had this idea for a cozy kind of a novel, something you’d want to read in a sun-drenched, overstuffed chair, with a cup of tea and cookies by your side (and perhaps, a furry creature snoozing beside you and gently warming your toes), and I wante...

#AT2012–Another Fabulous Donation

A lucky winner is going to end the Artist Take Over with Karen Probert's "Fragments of Lives" - The lives of ordinary people are not always as controlled or as evenly paced as they would like. The people in the stories in Fragments of Lives are not extraordinary but in each of their lives there is something – a memory, an occurrence, another person, a cycle of events – that propels them to rethink, to act differently, to follow a new dream, to reminisce or to change. These are the ‘...

The Work is NEVER Done

Thought the website was all up & golden, then found out if you google and try to click on the link, you get an error message. More research, more confusing DNS jargon, only to read “SOMETIMES GOOGLE GETS STUCK and you have to reset the information.”

Stuck. Stuck?!

Holy crap. Thank God we’re living in the most technologically advanced time. *eye roll*

It should all be fixed, now. If not, someone let me know.

It's the Principle

I've managed to smush 76,000 words of a novel into a coherent 361 word synopsis...but if I delete 39 words, I can get it to fit on a page, instead of a page + 3 lines...39 words...like the little engine said, "I think I can, I think I can..."
