The Larger Picture?

There’s a lot of hullabaloo concerning authors (mostly indie) paying for reviews and one reviewer who made $28000 in one month by providing the service. You can read it here & here.

It’s Wrong But…

Every time I hear Flo Rida sing, “Whistle while you work it,” I have a sudden vision of him as the evil queen and the overwhelming urge to look for apples…

Signs You Either Need a Weekend or are TOTALLY into your Manuscript

Opening your fridge looking for pizza, you realize you stuck the roll of tin foil on the second shelf. You try to feed the cats the dogs’ food. You’re frustrated that you can’t get the i-Phone volume to work & are annoyed with the loudness of the music…until you realize you’re listening to your i-Pod. You can’t understand why the computer’s reminders keep popping up…and then realize it’s because while the computer is living in the present, you’re still keeping time from two days ago. You...

From the NaNoWriMo Folks

Greetings, citizens of NaNoLand!

As creative as you all are, I know you're also math-minded. You write 50,000 words in one month, at a rate of 1,667 words a day. And you know better than anyone the pricelessness of that literary mission.

Here's another equation for you: OLL needs just over 3,000 votes in 48 hours to contend for a $100,000 grant from Chase Community Giving. Yes, $100,000. That is nearly equal to the annual budget for our Young Writers Program. That would pay for two-years' wor...

A few moments later, as she ascended into heaven, she saw rows of writers, chained to their desks in a steaming sweatshop. As...
