The War at Home
Day 3 of the “Milo Will Eat His Food Standoff” and the score is:
Mom ~ 1 (because I got him to eat without any shenanigans)
Milo ~ 1.5 (because when I was out last night, he took off with one of my slippers and–most likely–it is now buried under the snow…the jury’s still out on if this was an act of rebellion or just Milo being Milo…however, all agree he’s in my head, and that gives him the .5 bump)…clever little critter…

ARGH!
OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMG–what is going wrong with my brain?!
I’ve managed to finish Finding Home, The Secret Keeper, & The Rumple Affair…good, right?
Right.
So, I decide to take a week off (well, sort of. A week from writing, but I still had lesson planning, administration, emails, planning for 2013 to do)…still it’s a week, it’s a break…so why–WHY–am I now in Day 10 with no writing?
I haven’t a clue…RA I can’t edit because while I know something’s wrong, I don’t know what that something is…FH & TSK are...

Signs You Might be a Writer -
1. If you’ve ever gotten into an argument with the grocery about their everyday prices versus their every day prices, you might be a writer.
2. If correcting the grammar errors in the newspaper takes more time than reading the articles, you might be a writer.
3. If you’ve ever started writing a complaint letter and found it morphing into a spy thriller, you might be a writer...

Guest Post at Book Diva Reads
When I was a kid, they showed us the four food groups and said to be healthy, we had to eat from each category. I figured I had this knocked, especially the grain part. I loved bread, but then they came and said itcouldn’tbe white bread. To be healthy, it had to be brown. I don’t like brown bread, but okay, I changed over. Then they said my 60% loavesweren’tgood enough, it should be 100%.
To read more, visit BDR, where I’m guest posting and talking about first drafts & being enough.

Why I Love the Library
A Twitter conversation from yesterday:
Edm Public Library @EPLdotCA: Black Friday Special – 12 months of EPL goodness for only $12!!! Kids cards are free!
EPL User: @EPLdotCA Isn’t it always 12 dollars?
Edm Public Library @EPLdotCA: $12 is the regular price – that tweet was intended to be ironic or perhaps the word is satiric. Definitely something “ic”.
I think that might be my favorite Twitter conversation of 2012.

Why Do I Do This?
Against the better judgement of my Type A, overachieving personality, I took a few days from writing to work on administration and catch up on lesson plans, etc. It took me 48 hours to stop the cold sweats and panic at NOT writing…Today, I was supposed to get back to the writing–blurb/synopsis–and true to my Chicken Little soul, am now in a mad panic because I can’t remember what I wanted to say, can’t read my “I think she was being electrocuted” handwriting, and am now cursing the time off…

Things I Thought Only Happened in ’50s Sitcoms
I was supposed to meet at a friend’s house last night, so I stuffed myself into my parka, boots, & gloves and head out. Get to the building at 7:33 & text her so she knows to come down & give me a parking pass…7:37, no word, so I phone & leave a message…7:40, am now convinced my friend is lying in a pool of her own blood in her house…try to be macho and NOT go inside and demand the manager let me into her condo…7:41, pep-talking myself, “Give it ’till 7:43, then it’ll be 10 minutes and you ca...

When Good Ideas Go Bad…
I ended up taking Saturday off to celebrate finishing NaNo & getting the draft of Finding Home out to my Beta Readers (good idea)…I had every intention of working on Sunday–except I got hit with a wicked allergy attack and thought it best to take it easy (extra good idea)…
Now, it’s Monday and both brain and body are rebelling at the idea of work…had to drag myself out of bed. Between the allergy-med hangover, the cold weather outside, and the warm bed inside, there really isn’t a part of me t...

NaNoooo More Writing!
Whoo! Hit my goal–so pleased…was flush with victory and thinking of taking the rest of the week off to celebrate, then saw the tottering pile of manuscripts waiting to be edited…oi!
