When I came to Seattle in 1980, I was fresh out of Summer Rep at the Old Lyric Theatre in Logan, Utah having just received a Master's degree in Directing from the University of Wyoming. As a Radio/TV/Drama undergrad at Arkansas State University, I had worked as an on-air radio personality and actor. In Seattle, I acted professionally and gained more voiceover experience. Then in 1984, following the birth of my daughter, I left the performing arts to pursue a more "stable" profession in business. Now, after a long and successful career in telecommunications, I'm back with my first love. In the spring of 2014, long-time theatre friends convinced me to audition for acting roles again. A few months later, I found myself on stage professionally ...more

She was very intelligent, although her English was quite poor. When we were assigned to do a project together I discovered she had recently come to the U.S. from Iran. Whenever I asked her about her home, tears would well and she would say very little if anything. She was always quiet, but she seemed very nice. I remember thinking she had a sort of regal quality about her. Once, outside of class, I happened to see her standing in front of a large picture window in the Arts building. As she looked out across the campus onto the winter landscape, she had the saddest faraway look I think I've ever seen. I didn't occur to me until much later that this was shortly following the fall of the Shah of Iran in 1979. I don't think she was part of his family, but even now I wonder about her story. Was she connected to the royal family somehow? Whatever happened to her? It still haunts me to this day.(less)

Audiobook Release: Vacation by JC Miller

Vacation, released July 14, 2017. Ted Hughes
“T.S. Eliot said to me 'There’s only one way a poet can develop his actual writing – apart from self-criticism & continual practice. And that is by reading other poetry aloud – and it doesn’t matter whether he understands it or not (i.e. even if it’s in another language.) What matters above all, is educating the ear.' What matters, is to connect your own voice with an infinite range of verbal cadences & sequences – and only endless actual experience of your ear can store all that in your nervous system. The rest can be left to your life & your character.”
Ted Hughes, Letters of Ted Hughes

Cheryl Strayed
“There's no way to know what makes one thing happen and not another. What leads to what. What destroys what. What causes what to flourish or die or take another course.”
Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

Jack London
“He was beaten (he knew that); but he was not broken. He saw, once for all, that he stood no chance against a man with a club. He had learned the lesson, and in all his after life he never forgot it. That club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of primitive law, and he met the introduction halfway. The facts of life took on a fiercer aspect; and while he faced that aspect uncowed, he faced it with all the latent cunning of his nature aroused.”
Jack London, The Call of the Wild

Pandora Poikilos
“They have the unique ability to listen to one story and understand another.”
