So sorry I didn't answer this sooner. I didn't even know this question and answer module existed until today. I would love to write a sequel to The Free. But right now I'm in the middle of a different, unrelated, project. The characters in The Free are still very much in my thoughts and I've often considered revisiting Barbie Santiago's story. So perhaps I'll go there next. Thanks for reading and getting in touch.(less)

My advice is to take a break then come back to it. Writing is an endurance contest. You won't be inspired all the time. But sometimes just getting away from a project is all you need to rekindle your interest. All writers struggle with this. The ones who succeed are the ones who keep coming back to it after every lapse. Good luck!

It's clearly an earlier book and it was great fun (as it always is) to experience an author honing her craft. In some ways, this one had a bit more character subtlety and depth than Broken Harbor ...more "
