There are some people who, even though I enjoy their company, I nearly collapse when they move on. One person in particular seemed to have this effect on me. I thought about that thing for awhile, and avoided the person as much as possible, but it wasn't until I mentioned this casually to another friend who has some experience in this that I got an answer.

I need to take a quick tangent before I come back to this energy problem... I'm sure you've heard of vampires. Several authors have written popular series with vampires as the main characters and many of those have been adapted for TV or movies. Here's a definition of a vampire: "a corpse supposed, in European folklore, to leave its grave at night to drink the blood of the living by biting their necks with long pointed canine teeth." Gross and horrifying at the same time, but for whatever reason, even though vampires are folklore creatures, people enjoy stories about vampires.

Coming full circle, my friend who I spoke to about my energy loss problem said the answer was clear to her. The person who I found to be exhausting was an energy vampire. Even at they recognize energy vampires as real threats to us:

Go figure, right? Anyway, most energy vampires I've encountered leave me weak. But, I thought as I donned my mystery author hat, what if there were energy vampires who could and would drain you dry? That was a launch moment for the plot of my upcoming release, Dadgummit, which comes out Aug. 1, 2017. My amateur sleuth is hard pressed at first to figure out how and why a person with no obvious means of death is dead. Until she stumbles upon an energy vampire.

Thanks for asking this question!

Dorlana Hi Maggie,
Thanks for adding me to your friends. Have a great week.

Hywela Hi Maggie

Sorry I won't be able to join you tonight (It'll be 'this morning' for me). I have bought 'No Second Chance' and am looking forward to reading it when I'm on holiday in Wales looking after my sister's horses while she is away.

I see you're a fan of Anne McCaffrey. I lover all her books, although The Dragonbooks of Pern were the first ones of hers I read. She also wrote one about the show circuit but the title escapes me at the moment. I wrote to her years ago and told her I wanted to write. She kindly wrote back and said 'Write what you would like to read.' So I do! Great advice.

Have a brilliant chat tonight.
