“make-up, shiny skin, a large nose and wild brown hair.”
Wendy Holden, The Wives of Bath

“capable heart. As has happened countless times, he lost me for months on end and not only never complained, he immersed himself in the story, escorted and supported me, provided me with endless pots of tea and emergency gin and tonics. Sorry for the nightmares. Wendy Holden”
Wendy Holden, Born Survivors: Three Young Mothers and Their Extraordinary Story of Courage, Defiance, and Hope

“...her mother began to pick apart the toilet paper covering her gift. 'I suppose," she said brightly, 'we should be grateful this hasn't been used before as well!”
