A series is both similar and different than writing a single novel. Just as a single novel should have a good story arc, the series as whole should also have a story arc that begins in the first novel and concludes in the final novel.
In a series, each book should have an emotionally satisfying end, even though there are many things that won't be resolved until further into the series.
After each book is complete, it's important to go back during editing and tease out those threads that will help weave the story into the next book. Those threads are important to the continuity of the series as a whole.
But the most important thing about writing a series is that you, as a writer, continue to enjoy your characters and have fun with the plot. (less)

When Life is a Time Thief

What happens when life becomes a time thief? When life gets in the way and your writing time is stolen? The most important thing is to keep the stories simmering, don’t let them get entirely cold. It might not be possible to keep up with everything at times. (My blog went dormant and it seemed that I didn’t have any time to write while I helped take care of my grandmother after my mom was in an ac Read more of this blog post »

Description: There was something different about Liv, everyone knew it, even Liv. There was everything right with Luke and everyone knew it; he was captain of the football team and would most likely be homecoming king. He was nice to everyone, even that weird girl, Liv. He was voted most popular and most likely to succeed. His future looked bright until one dark night everything changed. It wasn’t Liv’s fault, not really. Luke was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but that was nothing new for Liv. She wished Luke hadn’t been there, then he could have gone on with a normal life, but now he needed her.

“There is nothing more magical than love. It’s invisible but the strongest of all bonds. It can’t be weighed and measured by science, but it’s the only sure thing that exists in the world. It can build or break a person or a civilization, yet it has to be nurtured and carefully tended by individuals. It has the strength to endure all tests and all time, but it is also the most tender and gentle thing life has to offer. I’m so glad I found it.”
