From the day I learned to piece together coherent sentences, I have been capturing my stories with ink and paper. I love roses, cats, rain, tea, music, and of course, Jesus! Most of my time is spent powering my way through university, but there are a few precious moments throughout the week that I spend with my latest draft.

I am the author of Ashes of Glass, a Christian retelling of the fairytale Cinderella.

Thanks for the question!
I had originally given this book the title “Secrets of Ashes and Glass” since the story consists of good secrets (glass) and bad secrets (ashes). However, it felt like too much of a mouthful so I shortened it to “Ashes of Glass.” My reasoning behind this one is that the ashes represent the difficulties Arella and Friederic face and the glass represents God’s perfect plan for their lives. Although it felt like their lives were disintegrating, God was using these trials to bring about His will. So these ashes, these trials, were all part of God’s beautiful design. Hope this makes sense :) (less)

Persuasion by Jane Austen

Yet another wonderful classic by Jane Austen. I thoroughly enjoyed Pride and Prejudice so I was excited to see if this one would be similar. It was and it wasn’t. It didn’t have the same humour that I think Pride and Prejudice has, but the love story was nevertheless epic. I know that there are those who would disagree with me and think that Persuasion is a hoot – to each their own I suppose.

This was an exciting retelling of the Tempest. When I first started it, I wasn’t quite sure if I would enjoy it, but at about 30% I was dragged in. I think one of the things that struck me the most was that the plot spans over the course of a day. It ...more
