A Blizzard in September
Last night my sister and I went to the Dollar Tree to pick up some Fall decorations for an upcoming Prayer Tea at our church. They have some really cute things this year! Afterwards we stopped at Dairy Queen for Blizzards. I don’t allow myself to go often. I love ice cream and have numerous ice cream shops dangerously close to my house. I could really overdo it if I let myself
This will probably be my last “ice cream date” of the summer. And since I’m working on a new Christmas story for next year, the Blizzard seemed a fine choice
What’s your favorite ice cream treat?

Hello, September!
I don’t know about you, but I am loving the cooler temperatures that come with September.
The month literally started off with a bang! Since we had a good, old fashioned gully washer on the fourth of July, our fireworks display had to be postponed until Labor Day weekend. It had been super dry since that last rainfall and I was afraid they might have to cancel again due to the drought conditions, but we were blessed with another heavy rainfall the day before, so the fireworks were a go!
As an added bonus, I was able to watch them from my front porch, no need to fight traffic
Though my flowers fizzled out by early July, I did have the joy of seeing two clutches of baby blue birds fledge from my nest box. That makes a total of eight clutches since I first hung the box three years ago. It’s wonderful to see so many blue birds in the neighborhood!
I have some good books lined up to read in September, including a friend’s memoir I have been anxiously waiting for
as well as some novels I have been wanting to get to.
Speaking of books… King of Hearts releases next week! I also have a Christmas novella coming out in November. Good things going on!
What is your September looking like?

Some random things I love about our town…
Given the choice between living in a small town and a big city I will choose the small town every time. Here are some things I love about my small, Ohio town.
I love the pretty hanging flower baskets that line Main Street every summer.
I love that our water tower is a ginormous apple! It’s looking spiffy this summer with a fresh coat of paint!
I love that we have this beautiful park for kids to play in. Miss Emma loves her morning walks there!
I love our cultural arts center where they feature plays, concerts, photography contests and quilt shows. Aren’t these little popsicles the cutest?
I love that we have this tasty summer treat known as “the bubble.” To my knowledge this little hometown ice cream shop is the only place you can get them

The One and Only Emma
I know National Dog Day was yesterday but any day is a good day to put up pics of my fur baby, The One and Only Miss Emma! As near as the vet could tell she was about a year old when I rescued her from the pound. I have had her for ten years
She is a beagle/lab/Lord knows what else mix.
Miss Emma knows when there is a batch of her tuna treats in the oven!
Queen of the castle
Earlier this summer. A neighborhood cat was stalking the baby robin in the background. Miss Emma wasn’t having it.
All decked out in her winter finery.
Glamour shot.
I hope you enjoyed Miss Emma’s loveliness. Drop me a comment and tell me about your fur baby!

Happiness is…
I recently listened to a podcast that talked about being intentional about enjoying the small pleasures in each day. Since I tend to focus on the stressers, I feel challenged to stop and recognize and appreciate the things that bring enjoyment. Today at the grocery store I chose a perfect watermelon!
What has brought you enjoyment this week?

A story of danger, love and forgiveness. I loved all the

of tissues handy, I got weepy several times while reading this
heartwarming and inspirational story. – Amazon Reviewer
