Day 28

Lazy Sunday, but you’re writing, right?

Right.

“Fiction is about stuff that’s screwed up.” – Nancy Kress

So, let’s get a little screwy.

I managed to get in 2,979 words yesterday, bringing my monthly total to 13,491 words.

I plan to write the same amount today. How about you?

Day 27

Three days left, folks.

Three days to go out in a blazing glory.

Three days to write until your butt develops pimples.

(No, you cannot unread that.)

Three days to continue the hard work you started way back on Feb 1st, 2016.

NewNoBanner2

Though I know many have fallen off this space shuttle, there’s still a few of us left in NewNoWriMo. Both Joe and Daniel have surpassed their goals and are still writing. Wilson is struggling, but he hasn’t given up and neither have I.

I added 705 words to my latest ghost story yesterday night, bringing my monthly total to 10,512. The story is not finished, and I have 6,888 words to make up in the next three days, BUT I’m incredibly happy with my progress. Also, I’m surprised at how well writing sprints are working for me.

Speaking of which…

Dubbed Nila’s Haberdashery by Johann,  we’ll be doing another write-a-thon today in about an hour (9am PST). If you would like to join us, comment on this post and I’ll send you an invite. If you can’t make it, I have another one scheduled at 7pm (PST).

Regardless, don’t stop writing. The end is near.

Day 26

“This is how you do it:

You sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it is done.

It’s that easy.

And that hard.” ~ Neil Gaiman

Less than four days to go to reach our writing goals. Skip breakfast and ignore email. Oh, and forget about eating lunch. But don’t forget in these final days to record your daily word counts here: NewNoWriMo Tracking.

Day 24

“If it sounds like writing, I rewrite it. Or, if proper usage gets in the way, it may have to go. I can’t allow what we learned in English composition to disrupt the sound and rhythm of the narrative.” ~ Elmore Leonard

Day 22

And we have a winner!

Joe Bailey, our graphic artist in-residence, has completed his NewNoWriMo Challenge. I want to congratulate Joe on his accomplishment. Not only did he get the words he wanted written out, while doing it, he had an epiphany.

“from the beginning of this i’ve said that i’m just going to tell a good story.  forget everything else.  write a good story.  and i’m actually doing that.  it’s seriously enlightening.  i haven’t once thought about anything other than, ‘is this good for the story?’  and when i get stuck on a repetitive word or i can’t make a sentence flow properly, i default back to writing it as simply as possible to get the point across and move on.  and it’s working.” ~ Joe Bailey

And it can work for you, too.

Focus on your goal, commit to it, and then just write.

Check out our collectively progress:

I’m only half-way through my challenge, but we still have eight (8) days to go. We can do it!

If Joe’s status update doesn’t inspire you, here’s today’s quote:

“If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn’t brood. I’d type a little faster.” ~Isaac Asimov

Day 21

Yesterday, a group of intrepid writers had a great, and productive, time during our two write-a-thons. Between us all, we wrote nearly 10,000 words.

Astonishing, no?

Someone even said, magical.

I’m so glad I decided to do this crazy thing called NewNoWriMo. My story is shaping up nicely and I think I’ll probably even make it the end. Even better, a writing friend and I are committing to writing together beyond the end of the month.

The second to last day of February, we have two more write-a-thons. This will be our final push to the end.

Join the magic.
