Ann lives by the sea under the benevolent rule of her canine overlord and an incredibly foul-mouthed cat. A scientist and Navy officer by profession, the writing bug somehow got inside her during her travels. She's now stuck with it and can't stop writing.

She writes fully immersive works of science fiction and apocalyptic fiction, often with a YAFA (Young Adult for Adults) twist. Ann is also a voracious reader, and adores a well-done audiobook. If she's not writing, then she's reading or listening.

It sort of helps to see how Silo 49 evolved in the way it did. Main character is Manny Rivera, a Filipino oil-platform worker who is hired by the WOOL project--along with many others--to create a new Strategic Oil Reserve in that area. I guess we'll all know how they managed to have so much oil underground in that part of Georgia!(less)

Formatters, binding size...all kinds of stuff has to be done. When I'm not frantically doing that, I'm working on a new series of shorts (though, for me, short tends to be about 75 pages) called "Good News, Gone Bad".

The first is called "Young Blood" and it's a dystopian imagining of a recent good news science story regarding the discovery of a compound called GDF11 in young blood that can turn back the clock in many ways for the old. Lots of stuff to imagine going wrong there!(less)

“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
