I’m Lee Rene, the jazz-loving, romance-writing alter ego of Francesca Miller. Under the nom de plume, Lee Rene, I write erotic romances and New Adult novels. I had the good fortune of being born in one the most diverse cities in the world, sun-kissed Los Angeles. The City of the Angels is more than just palm trees, toned bodies and beaches, it’s a fusion of people, languages and cultures.

In my past literary life, I worked a lifestyle writer for magazines in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Vancouver as well as entertainment journalist and movie reviewer in print, on-line, and on radio in the Los Angeles area. I’m a student of American history and my works are usually set in the past. When I’m not writing away, I spend my time watch

Though I haven't written a Blanche Dubois, I added an element of theatricality to all of them. Like Williams, many of my characters are working class and I don't shy away from their sexuality. I also add poetry to my prose, even the darker, smuttier passages.

Like Mr. Williams, I'm in love with the city of New Orleans and continue to write about it. I just finished a short story set in NOLA and have two longer works with that wondrous city as the setting. though I was born and raised in Los Angeles, my parents were Southerners and that part of the country continues to call out to me. “Writers are like gardeners - they have to prune to get to the beauty of their creation.”
Lee Rene

“It can be said that one slip of point of view by a writer can hurt a story badly, and several slips can be fatal.' Stein on Writing”
Sol Stein

“In our not-yet-acknowledged secret garden lie the seeds of some of our best not-yet-written stories”
Sol Stein, How to Grow a Novel: The Most Common Mistakes Writers Make and How to Overcome Them

“I see manuscripts and books that are spoiled for the literary reader because they are one long stream of top-of-the-head writing, a writer telling a story without concern for precision or freshness in the use of language. Some of this storytelling reads as if it were spoken rather than written, stuffed with tired images that pop into the writer's head because they are so familiar. The top of the head is fit for growing hair, but not for generating fine prose.”
Sol Stein, How to Grow a Novel: The Most Common Mistakes Writers Make and How to Overcome Them

“People who label erotica writers as sluts/men-whores remind me of the mob that once condemned smart women as witches. Mankind has not evolved much.”
Anna Bayes

“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
Ernest Hemingway
