"Certainty is the enemy of knowledge."

I'm a technologist who loves ancient history and theology/spirituality blended with the history of science. I've traveled around the world a few times, mostly during my childhood, but still enjoy a trip across the pond now and then.

My favorite authors include Stendhal, Mikhail Bulgakov, Graham Hancock, Paulo Coelho, Lawrence Durrell and Haruki Murakami.

My books have great breadth... reflecting my interests in science/tech, economic and ancient history.

"Now and then

An intriguing story about futuristic mental probings leading to past life's. A great concept. Two books in, I'm ready for the next chapter."
The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin
"3.5/5 Stars

The Three-Body Problem may be one of the most critically acclaimed Sci-Fi novels of our modern age, and in my opinion, it truly deserved the recognition for all the Sci-Fi ideas and narrative, but not for the characterization.

"I was hovering around a three star rating for the first half, I think due to a choppy style and stilted dialogue. Once I'd gotten the hang of the translation and was able to read it with some mental conversion going on, I was able to really apprec..." Read more of this review »

An academic perspective on myths and legends and their sources. After reading you will no longer see Shakespeare as the primary source of some of his plays. A great book interested in deep patterns of myth and archetypes.

“The responsible left came to embrace legislative Republicanism single-mindedly, not out of fear but out of wisdom—knowing that the only way to maintain the real revolution was to accept in permanence the truth that rejecting the legitimacy of the opposition could end only in violence, real liberal republicanism being no more than the understanding that there are legitimate ideas about shaping the future of the nation other than your own.”
