I’m an Elton and Elvis-loving girl from California’s Central Valley. For ten years, I’ve been working as a registered nurse in Sacramento. But, my true passion is writing. My all-time favorite books are: The Poisonwood Bible (Kingsolver), City of Thieves (Benioff) and The Diving Bell & The Butterfly (Bauby).

I’m the author of Birth of a New J: A Cathartic Memoir, A Message for Grandpa, and Conducting the King.

Burnt Toast.  Mom's deserve more than this!

Several years ago a friend told me about "Burnt Toast" and how she didn't want to live her life getting "Burnt Toast."  I didn't know what she was talking about. She explained that women, mothers in particular, live their entire life giving the best of themselves and settling for the bad parts, or whatever remains.

Burnt Toast, the Theory

The "Burnt T...
