Patreon June 2021 critique by Labanya

Patreon June 2021 critique by Labanya

Patreon June
https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu

Hello there! Hope things are well there, here things are nice, can’t say very bad, even though they look very grim.

I have just finished reading the June bunch of Patreon books created/written by Sharmishtha Basu, sharing my honest opinion about them, hoping they will bring a few much needed patrons her way!

If you want them for free you will have to critique the Ezines for a year, loyally and faithfully, if you critique them for a year and send the critiques to Sharmishtha she will give you these five books for free next year. You can go on for years, I plan to!

1. Agnilipi [writing/letter of fire]: It contains 10 gorgeous photographs taken by Sharmishtha Basu. They are pleasing and pretty to my eyes. My favorite is the first shot of flamingo catching fish, next is the light mauve flower.

2. Agnipat [portrait of fire]: It contains 10 awesome paintings of birds, I just loved them all. The benebou pix were extra gorgeous.

3. Agnimalya [garland of fire]: This month the book contains a set of supernatural stories, only one is not supernatural. I enjoyed each and every one of them.

4. Coming Kingdom: It was a great read. Mixed platter, some were supernatural and some were not. Rather enjoyed the stories with a little quirky fun and twist.

5. SBPnB [Sharmishtha Basu’s Pen n Brush]: It contains 10 illustrated poems, the paintings are pretty and the poems are really good

Will return next month with critiques, till then stay safe!
yours truly,
Labanya

It is my pseudonym and I write for Sharmishtha only, I really don’t have any plans of writing for anyone else at present, if I do I will start using my real name! If you like my works you can always send a few lines to Sharmishtha or write them as comments, she will tell me.

By your good old editor! Few simple words about the works of my much cherished authors! So the critiques will be honest, short and sweet.

Rain by Labanya- A piece of beauty. Brought back memories of old days!

Iridescent vignette by Scott Hastie: This tug between material world and spiritual world is so strong!

Ye reap… by saptarchi: Very true words, Indians should have seen the condition of Bangladesh and Pakistan before electing blood-thirsty fanatics.

Fogline by Brieuc Martin Onraet 15: I really enjoyed this piece, it sounds like based on Brieuc’s own childhood, that is why it feels so real.

The dawn of data abstraction by Vasu Srinivasan translated by Raghunandan Kuppuswamy: Very interesting story and very well translated, I wonder what will happen next month. Will he be spared or not? Well written and translated Vasu and Raghu.

Magna- End of hunt by Troy David Loy: Bit confused, so my namesake was a villain who got amnesia and forgot her past and joined good folks? That does not really change the past, does it? Forget it and it will bite you harder.

Come back… by Dom Collucci: Very deep, I don’t believe in rebirth, but for believers it must be like an endless loop.

Bitter Pill dose 43 by BP We are safe: BP spoke out what is in too many minds these days. Oh boy! We are getting what we asked for.

Stallions by Manju Balkrishna: This is one mind-blowing painting. I absolutely loved it.

Dream Angel by Pat Ritters 1: Pat clearly shares his childhood stories, and it is as awesome as Brieuc’s. I was terrified for a second when the kid threw the gunpowder in the drum. Thank God they both were unharmed! His mother was really lousy! Great writing Pat!

I believe that will be it for my critique as an editor, you will have to read the rest in Ezine. Of course there is truckloads of more works there!

Agnijaat Ashar begins with a beautiful sketch on Ganga’s descent to earth.

Indie Author Speaks: Good post, Sharmishtha referred a few free review sites.

FTQFS: A million dollar quote for envious people!

Techbabble: Very true, any professional should not claim that his/her referred product is as good as another if it is not! It will spread really bad word of mouth for his/her opinions.

India Now: Kingdom of fallen – She is right, the audacity and laziness of Kolkata garbage collectors is amazing! No wonder the city is full of disposed garbage everywhere! As for atrocities against Shudras it is common, but not in Bengal, and the Shudras should concentrate on getting what is government giving out to them “huge amount of quotas everywhere” instead of complaining about their horrible condition, if they start utilizing those “quotas” they will rise in society!

SOS: Is not it true! Yes! Nurture your own heart too!

Intriguing Tales: Some people really don’t get it, they chase their own death!

History of India: Interesting piece about entry of Aryans in India. These are the scriptures that make you grumble about old Indians, why did not they kept written records! Grr!

My Pen: of journalists 3: Indian mainstream media has shown that too many Indians are ready to sell anything and everything for money. That is a scary society to live in.

Fun and Frolic section:

cute pic for the section, another cute hedgehog! It was followed by a pretty painting of two sunflowers and a beautiful photograph of moon.

Prnic Poetry by Scott Hastie: Mr. Hastie’s poetry is really fabulous. I am becoming quite a fan of his amazing style.

Release from stasis by Graham Clingbine: The cover is elegant, the story sounds disturbing.

Pikatron December 2019 critique by Editor: Will have to get the newsletter from Troy or Agni.

Behind the scenes : Agreed. Sometimes the peek behind the scene absolutely destroys the cover!

Indian Raga Now:

Gyanendra Prasad Goswami- Never heard his name before, will have to check out on YouTube.

SPOTLIGHT ON- Cary Grant- Now that is one lady killer from head to toe.

Window to West – News of the world: I wonder if the young generation of Hollywood cares or simply is busy counting money churning out different stories from same stories that the older generation is still making quality movies.

Jyeshtha Shots: Four lovely shots, loved the squirrel.

Youtube channel: Already checked them all out.

Storytime: poetry from Patreon: beautiful message.

Gayatri Jayant: Another interesting festival.

Theme: lillies- Seven pretty paintings. I love these flowers. They show up after first healthy splash of rain in many gardens outside Kolkata.

The cartoon Mr Stick: Another dose of horrific reality.

In the end quite enjoyed the Ezine, and its colourful sketches/paintings especially they are refreshing and pretty!

That is it I guess! See you again next month, and thank you Agni/Sharmishtha for translating my works!

Yours sincerely,
Labanya

By the way if you see any other Labanya in Sharmishtha’s social circle that will not be me. I don’t use my pen name [Labanya] in social media, use the real one.
