Agnidal 5, the fifth annual edition of Agnishatdal contains the works and interviews of its authors. The Kindle issue is without illustration, the Gumroad and Shoptly issue is with illustration. So I will just do one critique for both and add my remarks about the illustrations at the end.

Thanks a lot Sharmishtha for adding my poem “atit-past” in the books.

Stallions by Manju Balkrishna- A piece of art! What a beauty!

The kindle copy contains poetry instead of painting by Manju Balkrishna.

Forgiveness by Manju Balkrishna- A sad, beautifully written piece!

End of Hunt by Troy David Loy- It was the concluding piece of one of Mr. Loy’s writings about Agni Bose, I have already critiqued this one.

The interview with the author was great to read. It is always delightful to know more and more about authors who are writing the stories for us.

Joys and sorrows of a teenage life by Raghunathan Kuppuswamy- Have not read this one before. Mr. Kuppuswamy is a fantastic storyteller and his choice of stories is equally great. I always keep forward to reading more of his works. This one is about the woes and joys of a boy snatched away from his friends during vacation.

The interview was great! A look into Mr. Kuppuswamy’s world was fun.

Come back soon by Dom Collucci- Wise truth for those who believe in reincarnation, I am neither believer nor disbeliever.

Mr. Collucci’s interview was really great, a deep insight into a very amazing author’s life.

Berlin by Brieuc Martin Onraet- Fantastic piece of writing! Mr. Onraet is such an amazing storyteller!

It was followed by an interview. A glimpse in Mr. Onraet’s world was fun.

Dream angel by Pat Ritter- It is entire first chapter of Dream angel at one place. A very well written story about Mr. Ritter’s Childhood I presume. He without doubt is a very good storyteller!

It is followed by an interview of Mr. Ritter, where he opens his heart wide. It was a great read too.

Ye reap… by Saptarchi- Hypocrisy and bigotry may seal the doom of Indians once again if they don’t immediately mend their ways.

We are safe by Bitter Pill- Ah! The wicked king and his blind subjects!

Iridescent vignette by Scott Hastie- what a priceless beauty!

It was followed by a nice, long interview with the author. I enjoyed that detailed interview as much I enjoyed the fantastic poem.

The rogue by Sharmishtha Basu- I loved this story very much.

It is followed by an interview taken by Hemdiva Dev [https://momsprincesspari.wordpress.com], it is always nice to know a little bit about authors I say!

Patreon July 2021 critique by Labanya

Patreon July 2021 critique by Labanya
https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu

Hello there! Hope things are well there, here things are nice, can’t say very bad, even though they look very grim.

I have just finished reading the July bunch of Patreon books created/written by Sharmishtha Basu, sharing my honest opinion about them, hoping they will bring a few much needed patrons her way!

If you want them for free you will have to critique the Ezines for a year, loyally and faithfully, if you critique them for a year and send the critiques to Sharmishtha she will give you these five books for free next year. You can go on for years, I plan to!

How to get the Ezines? You can buy them directly from her [paypal] or through gumroad, shoptly. The second way is you can write/create for Agnishatdal, if you send 12 pieces you will get 12 issues of both Ezines, that is, annual subscription of both ezines. Pick up your way and start writing the critiques.

1. Agnilipi [writing/letter of fire]: It contains 10 gorgeous photographs taken by Sharmishtha Basu. They are pleasing and pretty to my eyes. My favorite is the royal Bengal tiger or tigress! What magnificent creatures.

2. Agnipat [portrait of fire]: It contains 10 cute paintings of babies, human and animal, birds.

3. Agnimalya [garland of fire]: This month the book contains a set of micro fictions, some are about human beings most about fantastical beings, some nice others wicked. Thoroughly enjoyable!

4. Coming Kingdom: It was a mixed ride, there were a bunch of micro stories and some longer ones, daughter was heart-breaking and vampire in love was real fun!

5. SBPnB [Sharmishtha Basu’s Pen n Brush]: It contains 10 illustrated poems, the paintings are pretty and the poems are fantastic.

Will return next month with critiques, till then stay safe!
yours truly,
Labanya

It is my pseudonym and I write for Sharmishtha only, when I use social media I use my real name not Labanya. I really don’t have any plans of writing for anyone else at present. If I do I will start using my real name! If you like my works you can always send a few lines to Sharmishtha or write them as comments, she will tell me.

By your good old editor! Few simple words about the works of my much cherished authors! So the critiques will be honest, short and sweet.

If you listen by Scott Hastie: Beautifully spoken truth, our spirit is always trying to guide us to the right path. All we have to do is listen to it!

Ye reap…2 by saptarchi: Anyone with brain could guess that people who instigate riots can’t be good leaders but Indians don’t understand these petty things and suffer decade after decade.

Fogline by Brieuc Martin Onraet 16: Beautiful and touching piece of Fogline, these little gestures of human beings warm up soul. These are the incidents that remind us there is a nice percentage of good people, not all have gone to dogs.

The dawn of data abstraction by Vasu Srinivasan translated by Raghunathan Kuppuswamy: Wise guy, he certainly had his points. Very interesting explanation though! It was a little hard to understand, no wonder the king fined him.

Crawling by Troy David Loy: Another fascinating piece, wonder what will happen next time! The way Troy writes about alien worlds is amazing!

Seek and ye shall be blind… by Dom Collucci: A journey into a very special moment of enlightenment. It is filled with the blessing of that moment.

Bitter Pill dose 45 by We are safe 2: Very good questions. The problem is why is not majority of the country not asking these questions openly and throwing these bums out of parliament!

Gillu by Manju Balkrishna: Enchanting. Really well written story of a lovely bond between the narrator and a baby squirrel! The love that has been expressed in this story has given it a magical touch.

Dream Angel by Pat Ritters 1: A great piece of writing from Pat’s childhood. It is interesting how our teachers can see the talent in us when we can’t see them or are too humble to accept that.

I believe that will be it for my critique as an editor, you will have to read the rest in Ezine. Of course there is truckloads of more works there!

Hi friends, let us begin!

Shraban issue begins with another shot from Golconda fort, the tribute this month has been paid to Sarjoini Naidu and I discovered a lot of brand new things about her from this article. Actually I knew very little about her.

If you listen by Scott Hastie: So true, if you listen you will hear your guide guiding you in the right direction.

Ye reap…2 by saptarchi: Saptarchi is right again. They came to power howling against terrorism and corruption and turned the country into a terrorist country and mother of all corruptions. They are selling the ground under our feet to make their corporate buddies richer. Lynching innocents in the name of religion!

Fogline by Brieuc Martin Onraet 16: “ A cop is misdirecting traffic…” love these quips, another piece from Fogline very interesting one too! It was a touching piece.

The dawn of data abstraction by Vasu Srinivasan translated by Raghunathan Kuppuswamy: Well the man had the last laugh and the king had to return the fine. Good one.

Crawling by Troy David Loy: Interesting piece, a war between two super powerful beings has just begun! Rest will be shared next month.

Seek and ye shall be blind… by Dom Collucci: Beautiful.

Bitter Pill dose 45 by We are safe 2: BP raised a bunch of very good questions about our new rulers and the way they are ruling us, sending us to hell!

Gillu by Manju Balkrishna: Don’t know Hindi.

Dream Angel by Pat Ritters 1: Very well written and fascinating, I love these stories a lot, when a person shares his/her firsthand experiences about another culture, country, in this case about another era!

Treats:

Happy birthday Raghu and Agnijaat and Agnishatdal. Also, Sharmishtha, May God bless you all with the very best in life!

Sfulingo and Agnidal 5 in Kindle: Will be reading them after finishing this book.

4 fantastic shots of flying birds were shared this month.

This month Linkedin Requests are worth checking out if you are a writer or artist.

Release from stasis by Graham Clingbine: Wonder if it is dark or light story.

My artwork stores: The details of Sharmishtha’s artwork stores. Already checked them out, the products are really good.

Star of the Month Gregory Peck- He was marvelous. Have watched more than half a dozen movies by him and loved him in all of them. There is a great photo of the star too.

Star of West: Nomadland: Sounds like a great movie.

Star of east: Pinguli art- fabulous artworks.

Youtubia-PBS Its ok to be smart- Love them.

Minutes Together: The story graveyard was creepy.

Loved the Bengali poem and the hindi poem both. Thank you for adding my work Shraban in your ezine Agni and translating it for me.

Kali- Fascinating story about Mother Goddess Kali! I have not read this one before.

TnW- Laugh- good suggestion!

Bhandananda- Hate-mongers are immensely powerful!

The sketches all through the ezine were pretty, very colourful and lovely.

That is it I guess! See you again next month, and thank you Agni/Sharmishtha for translating my works!

Yours sincerely,
Labanya

By the way if you see any other Labanya in Sharmishtha’s social circle that will not be me. I don’t use my pen name [Labanya] in social media, use the real one.
