I am a clinical psychologist with a passion for reading and writing. My writing has included blogging (for Psychology Today and The Huffington Post), essays in The Psychology of Twilight and The Psychology of Dexter, and three books, all dealing with how to help people who are medically ill. When Someone You Love Has a Chronic Illness is my first self-help book and aims to help the loved ones of patients, such as partners, other family members, and friends.

I have a private practice in San Francisco, where I also live with my husband and two dogs.

I don’t write fiction, so I’m not an expert at all, but to me this was the most perfect novel I’ve ever read. The characters are beyond compelling and the use of the art piece as a transitional object for the trauma related to the main character’s mo ...more

I thought this was a good book. It was a quick read and, at times, hysterical. I liked the overall message about the perils of young men. It's not a higher rating only because I think I am still getting used to the author's style and I am new to his ...more

After reading this book I wanted to change every five star book I have ever rated to a four. This is the best book I have read in a long, long time. Granted, I read it on an island in the South Pacific, when the appreciation for the loss of indigenou ...more

I liked this book and it was a good story. Yet, there were several things the author got wrong in terms of what and who practices therapy. E.g. someone with a Masters Degree is never called "Doctor." And actually, there are very few psychologist lice ...more

I loved this book and everything about it. For me, it had everything a lover of literary fiction could want: brilliant writing, excellent prose, a great story and poignant, if not painful themes about racism and stereotyping.

This book was a wonderful and pleasurable surprise to me. Written from the perspective of a dog, it is a lovely, if not lonely, tale about those who love us when we are not paying attention.

While the racing metaphors did not speak to me, I was taken

I loved this book and gobbled it up in two days on vacation over the summer. I was a bit nervous; I did not know that anything could be better than The Emperor's Children, but this was. Of course, the prose was spot on, but the story was incredibly c ...more
