Jude began her writing career at the age of eight when she immortalized her summer vacation with ten entries in a row that read “pool+tv”.

As a sucker for happy endings and well written emotional arcs and characters, Jude is an unapologetic bookaholic. She finds bookstores and libraries unbearably sexy and, to her husband’s dismay, is attempting to create her own in their living room.

She is a writer of many things that hope to find their way out of the sanctuary of her hard drive, and many that have found a home in a fanfiction community.

She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Writing and Rhetoric and managing a home filled with her husband, two young sons, and two cats. Her first novel, Hush, was published in 2015 and her second n

I JUST SAW THIS. I obviously fail at Goodreads!

I've had a kernel of an idea for this book for years -- just a tiny one -- that's just sort of been floating in my brain and heart. But it didn't have a solid story and it never found it's footing until shortly before NaNo in 2014. I decided to try to give it a whirl for NaNo that year. I had some basic ideas, but a lot of the process of writing it -- as is the process of writing everything for me, particularly during nano -- was letting the story tell itself without forcing anything. I wrote the first 50-55k of the book November of 2014, and then took a break from it. I began working on it again about halfway through January of 2015 and finished the manuscript by in March. (less)

Well past sunrise, Reid wakes up curled on the very edge of the bed. His grandmother’s room overlooks the porch, so sunrises from bed are a distinct possibility. Somehow, the sound of the ocean isn’t the same in here, probably due to the proximity.

Reid peeks over his shoulder. Joaquim curled up on his side, around a pillow, his back to Reid. He reaches out to touch a mole on Joaquim’s s...

“What she meant was that I let my emotions control me. I was letting myself be helpless to them, and when we think we are our emotions, instead of our emotions being something we experience, or can let go of, or survive… they’re in control.”

“For the entire summer, Lane’s cell phone background was a picture of Jared eating Lucky Charms out of the Kelly Cup.
Jared’s was, of course, that shot of his that blocked Lane’s would-be goal. According to Jared, it was going to stay that way until he had a picture of Lane drinking Dr Pepper out of Lord Stanley’s Cup to replace it with. He liked to call it incentive.”
