Dr Gabriel is a Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University in South-East England, in the Faculty of Media and Communication where she lectures in politics, media and communication. In previous roles, she lectured in journalism and new media .

Dr Gabriel's research interests are focused around political discourse and communication, raced and gendered constructions and representations in media and popular culture, inclusion and liberation in educational practice and the dynamics of race, ethnicity and culture in higher education. In addition to a full-time academic role, she is the Founder of Black British Academics, an established network of academics committed to tackling racial inequality in the higher education sector.

The underlying cause is more often than not failing to create the conditions for free thought and concentration. So it is usually solved by dedicating time to write by switching off from everything else so there are no distractions (no emails, social media radio or TV and phone switched off! (less)
