Today while such things are out in the more out in the open, it is easier to say tell someone. Back in the 70s no one talked of such things and Kerry had no idea this might be happening to anyone else. In fact she didn't even think like that because it was her life.

As I wrote it, I was very much in Kerry's shoes, I suppose like the reader is, but the moment I stopped writing, I was able to put it aside. My head told me it was fiction, so it didn't really affect me at all.

Karen J. Mossman Probably a vivid imagination! There was no particular inspiration that I can recall. I've been writing since I was a child, mainly just for myself, and it was a long time before my stories were read.
Karen J. Mossman It's called The Secret and is set in the 1970s. Kerry is a normal teenage has a job, a boyfriend and lives with her mum and step dad and little sister. But she has a dark secret, one that will come back and this time there is no hiding. It blows her world apart. Her shame is now out in the open, but this time Tommy, his friends and his family are there to support her.

Karen J. Mossman Literally writing my own stories and letting the characters go where I want them too - and even sometimes letting them go where they want to!
Karen J. Mossman I usually sleep on it, as a fall asleep, lots of ideas and thoughts will come into my head. Sometimes though, it takes a little longer, like a week or so until I feel it is right and I can continue again.
