No, your question is not stupid at all! There is a thread that says "BOTM: Young Adult" and under that a topic called "nominations." You can post your nominations there. Hmmm...not sure if Isabel Allende would count. She lives in California but is from Chile. Aside from her, I would have to say Stephen King, Arthur Hailey, and Suzanne Collins. Also, some of the indie authors I have read since publishing have influenced me a great deal, including THE Phillip Stephens. You have heard of him, right? He is second only to Bryce Allen in the indie picaresque genre.

It was mainly inspired by reading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I had other inspirations as well: A long, dirt road in Statesboro, a documentary over Griselda Blanco, and a Halloween Saw marathon, among others
