David Rollins Advance your story every single day, even if it's just a hundred words. No one will write your book for you and there are a zillion distractions. But if you write even just a little every day, a hundred words will soon turn into a thousand, which will turn into ten thousand, which turn into (hopefully) a best seller.
David Rollins Actually, being a writer is a tough road. I never believe anything I've done is quite good enough and the characters in whatever the story I happen to be writing at the time keep me distracted 24/7. Generally speaking, I've come to realise that people who aren't writers believe it would be cool to do this rather than the job they're employed in. Perhaps because many people are convinced that they have a great book in them and when they finally manage to put it down "on paper", it'll be a best seller. And, of course, then they will live like lords.
David Rollins Alcohol.
Well, it worked for Hemmingway.
I think nodding the idea on a long walk seems to do it for me.
David Rollins Yes, Charles, still looking good for January 22nd. Have a great Christmas.
David Rollins Hi Charles, I guess I went with a fictionalised version because it gave me a bit more licence. In fact, I started writing the book with a completely different kind of character in the White House, but changed direction during the presidential race. The current guy, well, you couldn't make that sh*t up, right? I never thought someone like him could be the President, so my character stands on his shoulders.
FIELD OF MARS... Yes, in fact the second book in the series his 3/4 written. I put it to one side because, while it reviewed well, most of my Vin Cooper audience didn't go along for the ride and wanted to know when the next Cooper book was coming out. I'm told it's very difficult for an author to nip across to a completely different genre, and FoM proved them right - at least where I am concerned. Nevertheless, I will persist and the second book in the "Collision Series", titled BLOOD AND EMPIRE, will be released in some form or other hopefully around May.
David Rollins The final production stages of KINGDOM COME. I'm enormously excited about this latest Vin Cooper adventure. It's ripped straight from the headlines with lots of characters and geo politics ripped from the headlines.
David Rollins It's just something I have to do - like breathe. I miss not having the noise in my head when I have no story on the boil.
David Rollins The current nonsense in the White House mixed with the desire to rub shoulders with my main character, Vin Cooper. I was missing the big lug.
