It's dark, not even a moon. They will never see me coming.

If I remained just me, I don't think I'd want to visit any of them, because I'd be utterly helpless. If I get to integrate and have abilities like other characters then I think I'd like to visit Hogwarts, some time after the Voldemort's demise and sit in on a Transfigurations class.

If we're talking about the most recent one I have been writing, then I sat down and simply brainstormed the idea. I knew I wanted a female lead and I wanted it set in the UK. Sometimes it can be a single image that pops into my head, at others I have an idea for something I want to explore, occasionally from a dream. It is most often simply from things that pop into my mind at random times.
There are sometimes I have sat down and actually tried to come up with something to write. That often starts with simply staring at the screen and starting typing and seeing where it goes. My series The Chronicles of Charlie Waterman started that way. The first page I wrote when I had no clue where I was going is long gone, but it helped me to begin writing.
